1964 Harley-Davidson Topper: Scooter Duo

Harley Davidson Toppers

I know there isn’t much time left on this auction, but when I spotted these Harley-Davidson Scooters here on eBay, I just had to feature them! While I’m sure most Harley enthusiast want a big bike with lots of power and some loud pipes, I think these little scooters would be an absolute blast to zip around on! And when you tell people you ride a Harley, they wouldn’t believe you! This duo of fuel sippers are going to need restoration, but they look complete. I honestly have no idea what it would cost to restore both of these, but I can’t imagine it would cost much. I would want to fix both up so me and the significant other could zip around town together! What about you? Would you fix these scooter up?

I didn’t even know that Harley made a scooter until I saw one at the “Wheels through Time” museum in N.C. Of course they have every Harley ever made there along with countless other brands of American made motorcycles. Very cool place.

It is in Maggie Valley N.C. which right next to Cherokee. It really is a fantastic place. I’ve been there twice. It is over 30,000 sq ft of motorcycles!

Those would be so cool to have for people that live in town or large urban areas! Not only fun but I would bet a big conversation starter seeing as I have never even seen one let alone heard of them! I have no idea on the pricing but considering the condition, it seems a bit high. Again, on the other hand, rarity could mean value?
Hope someone buys, restores, and uses them.

I have an other unknown fact for your reader. DKW in Germany build a two cycle 125 cc motor bike right on the end of WWII in Germany. The US dismantled the hole factory line and Harley Davidson started to build these bikes here in the US – I would think for the children?!
The 125 DKW was well liked after the war and was almost the only way to go around. No bus, no trams, no cars, no gas – no nada! This is stuck in my memory.

The Topper had a brand new 165 cc engine that was engineered and built in the U.S. exclusively for the Topper. The Topper of course had nothing to do with the DKW engine.

Does it come with the flat black open faced helmet that is mandatory for Harley riders to wear?

At least these sound better than those Harleys V twins.
