1967 Chrysler Imperial: Royal Luxury

left front

This Imperial is listed on craigslist near Denver, Colorado. It’s a barn find survivor, complete even to the original leather upholstery which is still soft. It is fully loaded with the luxuries of the day including tilt/telescopic steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control and leather. It’s powered by a 440 CID engine and the 727 Torqueflight automatic transmission. Imagine driving this survivor, not recreated but original, sittings on the original seats. If it’s as nice as described, could it be worth $7,800 to cruise in luxury in this grand old coupe?

Beautiful car, uncommon even back in the day, nice original condition, probably worth the asking price. Gas guzzling 440 though, lucky to get more than 10 mpg, but heck gas is almost as cheap as its ever been these days, and its not like you’re gonna commute to work in it every day

Driver side door appears to be a slightly different color than fender and rear quarter panel.

Great car but really think twice before using it as a DD. Back in early 90’s I bought a ’64 Riv that I thought would be cool to have as a DD. Single digit gas mileage and the fact that I had to parallel park in 1 1/2 parking spaces quickly overshadowed any joy I had of driving this car. I owned for just about 6 months. Had I realized it’s true purpose life being a weekend cruiser, I would have held onto it for much much longer…

One of my better salvage yard finds 68 Crown Cpe – it was just pulled in from a highrise garage. Parked in 1974 with about 26,000 on the meter – the gas crises was in swing….still had the big 7.75 nylon two stripe white walls…..drove the heck out it – about 50,000….it got hit on the street by a van that was stolen….it hurt….yes they like gas….but float they do….these tanks are better at under $5000.00…..just sayin’……

Back in the early 70s my younger brother had one. Snow white with a blue interior. I thought it was a very cool car. He slid into the corner of a building on a very icy day and the car had some front end damage.. the building suffered a bit too.. He got rid of it after that. Even our mother liked it… a lot..

    We had 2 of these.
A crown Htp sedan and a LeBaron Htp sedan.
Sold the better one, still have the other.
Though some a******* hit and run swiped it on the street, I know he got the worst of it….

jay Leno has one in his bunch , too

I had a 68 crown coupe. the 68 had a few more styling details than the 67, but very close. Great brakes up front, plenty of power, and some very cool luxury features available on these such as power vent windows, and a radio tuned by a floor mounted switch (like an old headlight dimmer)………..The 440 engine makes this a much better car to hotrod than any caddy, thirsty for sure, but all these old sleds are thirsty……Use as a Daily Driver? I guess you could, but it just makes more sense to have some cheap “disposable” econobox for that use (I have a 2015 Mazda 6 for that purpose)……I still have a 76 eldo convertible in my stable, but I wish I had my crown coupe back…..this one looks great, it the paint wasn’t ms-matched the ask would be very fair, but being that its two colors, I’d say its a $5-6k car at best…….

a definite repaint on left side and hood as noted in above comment, most likely faded.

a bit high priced but not too bad..
