1967 Ford Mustang Garage Find

This ’67 Mustang estate sale find looks promising with its California black plate and red over black color scheme. The single-family ownership and low mileage claims are just icing on the cake. Ford made a ton of these cars but they are getting harder and harder to find these days. So let’s take a closer and see if this pony car is as good a find as it sounds.

We all want to see a big V8 when we pop the hood on an old Mustang so the inline-six may be a bit of a letdown. Eight cylinders would provide more grunt but don’t totally write off the six. That engine is torquey and can still provide a lot of fun. I’m guessing this one is not currently running but as long as it isn’t seized, it shouldn’t take much to get it fired back up again. Replace the fluids and go through the brakes and you might just have a drivable classic.

Earlier inline-six powered Mustangs were equipped with a weak three-speed but luckily this ’67 should have the better box. The manual stick is a welcome sight too because it’ll help you extract as much horsepower as possible out of this little pony. It looks like the carpet is faded and the seat has a tear but interior kits are readily available and easy to install. There are more important things to consider here.

Old cars have a lot of stories to tell and this Mustang has the dings and dents to prove it. The edge of the bumper looks like it hooked something and there’s a big dent on the top of that rear passenger’s side fender. There is a video link provided in the listing but it doesn’t really show more than what’s already depicted in the photos. I’d like a few shots of the floors before bidding but potential buyers will have to be quick about it because the auction is ending soon.

The seller doesn’t provide much information but they do claim that the car has only had one owner and that the 68k miles shown on the odometer are original. I would want more details before taking that figure as fact though. Some documentation or even a conversation with the owner may clear up some doubts. If this sounds like a project you’d be willing to take a gamble on, you can find it here on eBay where it’s listed without a reserve!

I had a 64.5 with same configuration. It was no rocket ship but never had any gearbox issues and believe me as a highschool kid I just loved it. Someone will love it for just what it is.

The EBAY ads says it’s a 302, I wonder if the dealer ever opened the hood? I’d like to have it even with 6 cyl. to bad it didn’t have that Dag 4 speed tranny.
