1968 California Special Mustang – Another One!

gtcs

Just after featuring a big block California Special Mustang barn find, another one pops up here on eBay. This one is located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, just like the other one BUT the seller ID is different, and this one is blue rather than red. Quite a coincidence, don’t you think? Both seller ID’s have positive feedback, so I’m not saying things aren’t on the up and up – there are over 100,000 people in Kelowna! Anyway, this car comes with about the same level of detail as the red one, and they are both automatics. This one does look a little less rusty, and has been hidden in a garage for 30 years. I don’t think the striping on this one is original, and it’s certainly possible it’s not original paint. I was surprised to see what looks like an uncracked dash pad, and the interior as a whole looks fair, with some work needed. Personally, I like these wheels better than the hubcaps on the red car. Which one would you choose, and why?

I’d say this one looks a great deal cleaner plus it has better wheels and no vinyl top.

Between the two I’d pick this one. Some of it’s parts look to be more salvageable. There is still rust to deal with but it still looks somewhat better.

I agree this one seems in better condition. I’d still like to see some pictures of the floor.

I would like to see the underside of this one. The body looks to be very restorable and the interior needs very little work. Inside, I see some pulled seams but nothing that would deter me.

In addition to this one looking to be in better shape, it seems to have a more desirable spec: 390 4 barrel vs. the 2 barrel motor in the red car.

Why buy one of these dolled-up coupes when you could probably get a fastback for not much more money? https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/classicmustang/info

Be careful buying on eBay, have a appraiser check it out first. I do like the color.

And it only has 14,000 miles on it — probably still under warranty.

I suspect that what we have is two owners who got together over a bottle of moonshine and made a bet as to which of them could get the best price for the two wonderfully collectable rare Mustangs that they have in their barns. The less moonshine in the bottle, the better the bet seemed.

But the blue car actually seems like it might have a chance of becoming a car again — perhaps using some parts off of the red one.

I may be English but Mustangs from this era really do it for me, unfortunately I never liked the Coupe Roof it just looks wrong to me so I’ve never considered a CF but a Fastback hell yeah and if a Convertible popped up at the right price then I’d go for that but sadly not a Coupe.

I’ve seen another, here in Vernon so, that’d be three, within half an hour’s driving distance.
Definitely, I like the (robins’ egg?) blue one, more. Especially, like those hubcaps; always,
thought they suited the car, well. Oh-and, when I was in high school, there(1975), I had a
    teacher, who drove a Grande!
