1971 Plymouth Barracuda: The Gran Coupe

1971 Barracuda Gran Coupe

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

When it comes to muscle cars, few are as recognizable as the early ’70s Barracuda. These cars were built at the height of the muscle car era and were about straight line performance and over the top looks. This Barracuda Gran Coupe isn’t a top of the line model, but that didn’t stop someone from upgrading it for street performance. The original 318 has been replaced by the mighty 440 and an automatic transmission has been swapped for the manual. It also a Dana 60 rear end and some wide racing slicks. It has been in storage for nearly 30 years, so its hard to say what all it is going to need, but hopefully it won’t take much to get running again. Find it here on eBay with a BIN of $8,900. What is your all time favorite muscle car?

All time favorite would have to be GTOs. I had a ’67 and a ’70. For me they were THE muscle car. My ’70 was a 455 4 speed. It would scream. Just ask the lamp pole I hit with it.

All time favorite muscle car? Hands down the Jowett Jupiter! Second would be a Daimler SP200/Dart followed closely by the Sabra Sport.

Do I like oddballs? Meh, well, I guess so… ^_^

Oh, AMERICAN muscle car? Well, the first car I ever drove was a 1967 Camaro and that made me a Camaro fan though I do love the late-60s Firebirds!

No surprise it’s sold, that is a pretty good value. Cudas are not that common.

Wish I would have seen it sooner. I would have bought it at that price . That Dana 60 would be nice. If anyone has any leads on e body mopars please email me. Looking for a solid project to start with. Prefer 70,71 but will still at least look at what ever e body you might have, thanks love them molars!!!

Favorite muscle car has to be the one that started the movement… 1955 Chrysler C-300 (often mistakenly dubbed the 300-A).

That is not a ’71 ‘Cuda. The ’71’s had 4 headlights (the only year of E Bodies with 4), shark-tooth grill and phoney gills on the front fenders.

It is a ’71 Barracuda . Had the nose replaced w/ a ’72-’74 . Could probably sell the nose on the car for what it costs to replace it with an aftermarket ’71 nose .

Car was bought , washed & reprimered . Sold 2nd time . Guy was pushing for 15k .
