1972 VW Beetle: Sawzall Save

1972 VW Beetle

We all enjoy the idea of buying a car with a little bit of history, and it helps when sellers clue us in to a car’s past. I don’t think I’ve seen a more head-scratching description than the one written for this 1972 VW Beetle on Seattle’s craigslist that was “rescued from a tweeker with a sawzall.” As I kept reading, I couldn’t get over the amount of details I was getting from a mere craigslist ad, and all it did was add to the intrigue of how this car ended up a roller rescued from tool-wielding tweekers! No interior, no engine, no wiper motor; but it does have a document that replaces the lost title, and indicates that before it fell victim to being pillaged for parts, this little Beetle was owned by an air-cooled specialty shop in Washington state – which may explain the fresh rubber seals, new running boards and conversion from an Autostick to a conventional manual. For $985, you get a mostly rust-free Beetle, but I’d negotiate downwards a little bit before jumping on this mysterious ’72.

Actually a really good deal and it’s gone so someone agrees with me.

The tweeker’s must have come back. It’s gone.

Was gonna say that if it’s mostly complete & rust free and only needs an engine it’s a damn good deal but I guess the market spoke first… ^_^

I think the ad was pulled by CL based on the response from the link. If it had been sold and the listing removed by the seller the page would say “the listing had been deleted” for about 48 hours
