Rare Stretched 1973 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo

There’s just something about a long-wheelbase Cadillac that oozes American luxury, and this 1973 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine is no exception. Listed for sale here on eBay with a clean title and just 52,710 miles, this massive cruiser is powered by a 472 cubic inch V8 mated to an automatic transmission. It’s currently located in Minnesota and offered by a dealer, and while it’s not perfect, it presents an intriguing opportunity for anyone in search of a project with character or a conversation-starting weekend cruiser.

Cadillac’s Fleetwood series was the pinnacle of the brand’s offerings in the 1970s, and the limousine version was essentially the executive lounge on wheels. These were used for everything from corporate chauffeuring to government duties to funeral fleets, and while many were driven into the ground, this example appears to have survived in relatively complete and original condition. The maroon paint appears glossy with some age-related patina, and the vinyl top shows well from a distance, though there may be some close-up wear. Fender skirts and full wheel covers complete the formal look.

Under the hood, the 472 V8 appears unrestored and all-original. While the engine bay shows signs of age and surface rust, the listing notes that the car runs and drives, and that many accessories are functional—including the power seat, wipers, headlamps, front windows, and antenna. However, not everything works: the radio is inoperable, the AC isn’t blowing, and the rear power windows are currently non-functional. For those willing to tinker, these are fairly common issues on vintage GM vehicles and may not be overly complicated to address.

Inside, the driver’s compartment sports black vinyl bench seating and a mostly stock dashboard. In the rear cabin, the original upholstery shows some wear and tear, especially on the side panels and lower trim, but the bones of the interior remain intact. Fold-down jump seats are still in place, along with vintage brown carpeting and woodgrain trim. With some upholstery work and detailing, the rear cabin could once again feel suitably upscale.

Whether you’re a Cadillac enthusiast, a collector of limousines, or someone looking for a unique vintage cruiser to personalize, this big-body Fleetwood offers a lot of style and presence for the money. Would you restore this Cadillac to its former glory or enjoy it as a funky survivor?

I hate to be a nit picker, but I’m going to be one anyway. This is not a stretch, but a Fleetwood series 75 limousine. Stretch limos are the one that start as a regular sedan and are cut in half, then have section welded in the middle. This one looks pretty good. The leather driver’s seat looks like it is adjustable, not all of them were. I looked at a ’64 and the drivers seat had 1 position. The buy it now even seems realistic, that’s a lot of car for under 10 grand. But not many people want one of these and not everybody has a garage big enough to keep it out of the weather.

Anytime you had a Cadillac Fleetwood limo, the front seat was only adjustable to move front and back if it had a divider window if it did not have a divider window, it was a fully adjustable front seat.

It may not be the correct color, but my first thought was “Blazing Saddles.”

I love the redundancy of having a cadillac emblem on the front peak of the grille, and a stand along cadillac hood ornament withing 2 inches of eachother.

They want everyone to know it’s really a Cadillac. :)

Kinda cool, in a weird way. I once had a customer who owned one of these, I used to service it at the shop I worked in. That long wheelbase makes for a cushy ride and the need for some out of the ordinary maneuvers at times. Nice car.

Not something you see everyday. This is a Fleetwood first and foremost. That front seat is leather upholstery.

Had a ’60 true division window Caddy limo in the early eighties. Started a one car limo business before they were common. I bought it from a guy who had a bunch of cool cars in Tijuana…back when you could zip across the border. It belonged to Miguel Aleman, a Mexican president who ruled in the late forties. Had to sell it as many of my customers thought the car ran on an illegal substance then very popular…..not to mention I tired of the sight of high heels up against the division window…and I was on the wrong side of it :)

Anyway…this seventies beast is an odd color and even odder rear compartment. As someone said it must be a funeral follow on car….but a somewhat tasteless one!

Nice clean looking car for the most part. Doesn’t look like it needs all that much to make it a nice driver. What else you gonna buy for under $9K?

Where are my Fellow members of The GREAT AMERICAN LAND YACHT PRESERVATION SOCIETY? This would make the perfect vehicle to tour anywhere. The body color from fender mountings were a great feature with several indicator lights, once standard on all full sized Cadillacs, and I believe never available on any other cars.

A limo fit for our Queen! After you fix the pesky electrical gremlins that have called the rear windows their home. Sounds like one of the fusible links to me. My
late FIL once told me that in a Cadillac, one fuse controls several different items inside the car. And he went on to say that a
repair like this was very expensive as all the fuses in a Cadillac are specially made for
    that task. Any comment TCK?

That is totally not true. All the windows are powered by a self resetting circuit breaker. There is one fusible link coming from the starter for the fuse block, one for the headlamps and a third for the A/C. Do the windows work with the drivers control or for each door or not at all? Turn the key on ign but don’t start the engine. Turn on the dome lamp and observe the decrease in the brightness (if any) when pushing the buttons(up/dn) to see if the motors are drawing current etc. many simple checks to do first.
Electrical problems on older Cadillacs(or most any older American car) are easy to find when approached systematically.

This car is at a dealer in the NW suburb of Anoka, Mn. I went to a street show 3 weeks ago, so I stopped by the dealer and walked the showroom. This car is a newcomer.
Decent buy for what it is.
I think we’re all waiting for Angel to chime in.
