Update 6/24/11 – The seller has now added a buy it now for $49,000! Maybe the mustang station wagon is a better deal?

This vintage of Corvette is not our favorite because they usually have automatic transmissions, but this one stands out for obvious reasons. What could be better than a sports car with room in the back for your dog and golf clubs? The seller claims that this is one of only ten actually built by Ecklers. Find it here on eBay.

This Vette looks to be in great condition with blue leather and a dressed up engine. We would rather have a manual, but with the extended roof it would still be fun to drive around hassling fellow Corvette enthusiasts.

The conversion appears to have been done very well and is a nice take on a “shooting brake”. Shooting brakes have been around for a while and were usually custom built using two door cars. They were created for sportsmen and hunters that needed the extra space. We have even seen photos of vintage Aston Martin that we converted into shooting brakes when new. Some factory brakes included the Volvo 1800 ES and BMW Z3 Coupe. Can you name any others? Check out this article about shooting brakes on the New York Times.

1965 Mustang Station Wagon

Maybe you are more of a Ford guy? Well we still have you covered. This 1965 Mustang has been converted into a station wagon and was inspired by a car that Ford never built. With a BIN of $65k it is a little rich for our blood and makes the Corvette seem like a bargain, but it is still worth viewing the listing on eBay.

A travesty, but I love it. Oh, the 'Vette is at least a '68.

He's way off the market on this one. No one wanted these when they were new and they're almost as hard to sell today. Also, Corvette owners normally avoid any aftermarket customs.

There is a mustang wagon conversion rusting away on a guys property in St.Louisville ohio right next to it is an older Austin Heley. Im guessing 50s ish that was in mint condition when he dropped it off of a flat bed and left it in his yard 10 years ago now its rusting away as well. Sad.

There also a few Maverick conversions running around Denver when I was in high school. Wish we had digital cameras when the dinosaurs roamed!
