I was a bit surprised by the current bidding on this Country Squire wagon when I first saw it, but then I started looking at the specs and I realized why it’s already bid up over $12k. You see this LTD doesn’t have the base 351 V8, but was instead optioned with the 429 4V, making this one hot wagon! It was also optioned with the Brougham luxury interior, so not only is it powerful but comfortable too! With just 24k miles it is still like new inside and out, although the A/C system is going to need work. This is another case of the A/C system “just needing charged”, but I’m going to guess it will need more than that. Also long as the rest of the car runs and drives well, that’s a pretty minor issue. I’m honestly surprised the engine is still in this car and hasn’t been pulled out to be put in something more sporty, but I’m glad it’s still in this big wagon. Keeping this beast fueled up would take getting a second job, but I would love to load the family up for a vacation in it! You can find this big block Squire here on eBay in Portland, Oregon. Special thanks to Charles H for this tip! So would you make this wagon your family hauler?

What a beast. I’m surprised at how high the bidding is going but it is nice!
Very clean, but still old looking how about those padded doors.
Has that old York style comp. time for up grade
and new Freon
Not for me.
What happened the original thread about this car? There were some excellent information and stories there.
did you see this car posted someplace else?
Yikes, it’s totally shredded just before the air cleaner inlet.
The engine has been carefully detailed and repainted, so why would they neglect to replace the inlet? It couldn’t be very expensive and having it shredded like that will have some issues as the engine won’t be breathing as well as its supposed to!
As noted hot rod builder Thom Taylor once pointed out, 4 doors and wagons are not and never will be cool. This has two strikes already.
Ahh yes… Thom Taylor… creator of the “Alternomad” Chevy caprice station wagon custom…. Thom Taylor… the King of customs, sorry, Double standards…
Thom Taylor doesn’t know what he’s talkIng about. One man, one opinion.
Yeah, just buy what *you* want, not what some dude on TV says you should think is cool.
Seller stated the AC needs chaNging, not chaRging.
Sounds like seller understands the limits of oldschool AC
compressors,driers, and freon.
While wagons aren’t viewed as cool by majority,
that’s exactly why they are cool.
at $15100 with no listed VIN, no undercar photos, no docs. to support the miles, no working a/c and the as stated above broken air intake hose. i think the seller should have had to work harder to be at this price with reserve still not met. i love the car but would have to do a very detailed PI before bidding. this sure would make a great tow vehicle. my extended family had a lot country squires and other SW’s, back in the day, which we had a lot of fun in. SW’s were great cars for date night at the drive-in movies. great find
At the age of 16 I bought a green one of these for$125, and it was in great shape. Drove it for two years. That was in 1978.
I suspect that a month after purchase, the engine will be in a 69 Mustang Boss 429 clone.
I know it’s not the same engine but close enough for a tribute car.
On the other hand this would make a car for a Family Vacation out west.
Are we sure this is a 73? I thought 73 had the big bumpers up front only… Nice car, pricey but nice
Sorry. Wrong site. I saw this car on bringartrailer dot com. Many has commented on this car there…like 80 plus responses. Good reading!
