Having only 84,000 miles and fully loaded, this 1976 Thunderbird is located in Wickliffe, Ohio and is available here on eBay where bidding is only $1,000 with no reserve. I’ve driven one of these before and the expression “floating down the road” couldn’t fit a car better. With a 460 cubic inch V-8, I’ll bet it will get out of its own way, too!
What an interior! I wish modern cars came with brightly colored interiors like this—I can’t even think of the last time I’ve seen green floor mats, let alone an entire interior! Cushy comfort, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows and it supposedly all works. I can’t see this one staying this low, but if it does, I’m going to have to check out flights to Ohio!
Good buy for some one.
looks like the car does not have cruise control. other then that this would be a fun highway car. with no reserve it will be interesting to see what the car sells for. great find
How a car like this survived in Ohio without rusting out is beyond me! Rare survivor. Would be a fun cruiser as others noted.
I Way cool daily driver, at least for me – I have a 10 mike round trip to work. That’s about what – 2 gallons per day? ))
Seriously though, this is a very nice example of the mid-70’s Detroit sofa cushion barges. If it was a 75 with a working a/c (better yet converted to 134a) I would give it a lot of consideration as long as price remains in “the basement”. Added to my watch list for informational purposes only (in case my wife was looking over my shoulder nd reading this ))))
What is the difference between a 75 and a 76?
1975 or before is smog exempt in California. Its a well-beaten fact here on the forums but just saying…
aahhh the 70’s color combos…..
Frank Cannon is trying to bid from his grave as we speak….
and you have to love the 20 ft’ whip antenna/ cb combo….enough RF to guarantee instant sterility…
it is at just $1400 right now. looking at the photos in the photobucket it looks like it is body on frame so it might make a good tow vehicle.
Maybe it would tow a 23′ chris craft lancer inboard they’re about the same year or it could tow a wood boat!
i was thinking a trailer with sports cars on it but your idea is even better.
I thought the 460 was for Lincolns only. Had a friend who had one with a 428 and thought that was too big.
Actually the 460 was available in the LTD’s, Torino’s, pickups, Mercury’s and the Elite’s
I love the big boats. It is like driving your living room around. I had a 87 Cadillac brougham d elegance and it was a blast to drive. It had a 305, I can only imagine a 460. I tried to get one of the big birds once. I offered a 72 mustang grande and a 88 mustang coupe for a diamond jubilee edition. I didn’t get it, and ended up with a 83 t-bird.
Had one exactly like this but was a 73 with a 429 4 bbl, copper color with Brown inside, the maximum miles per gallon was 12 in Summer. The TBird was a Beach véhicule but i Never had a car si silent on the road.
An error in writing should have mark, big car very silent on road.
Very bad feedback about this seller on multiple car sales. STAY AWAY.
That car is vile, inside and out,OH it has a C.B. Im in.
the car sold for $3003. did anyone on the site buy it?
I purchased a 73 / 74 / 75 all with leather and 460’s. Drove each over 100,000 miles covering 5 states before trading for the next one. Loved each one. The only major repair was a worn out distributor on the 74. Bought a 76 F150 Super Cab. Put 175,000 on it. Loved it too. All were great road cars.
