The Magnum was the last car built on the B-body platform. B-bodies are a piece of history and ooze late ’60s cool. The cars were sold as either the luxury-oriented XE or the performance version GT. They came with T-tops, slick tops, or moonroofs. The vehicles are long and excude late ’70s style. The example is said to have 87k miles and is listed for sale or best offer here on eBay. Bidding ends Friday, January 10th.
The car is finished in cream and has what appears to be a black T-top. It was recently repainted, and no rust is reported. A personal favorite feature is the automatic headlight doors. The wire wheels are also a nice touch. There’s something about B-bodies that looks right. They’re exceptionally stylish and perfectly nostalgic.
The interior is finished in red and white. The driver’s seat appears to have some seams splitting on the base. They should be easily fixed, as the tearing is fairly mild. This is the XE model, so it’s designed for luxury, which is apparent in the cabin. Limited information is provided about the functionality of the car’s interior features. The car is equipped with factory air conditioning.
There are no engine bay photos in the ad. A 360 cubic-inch four-barrel V8 sends power to the wheels via an automatic transmission. The car is said to run and drive well. This car represents a piece of history. This example is in fair condition and has some room for improvement should the next owner choose to do so. It’s easy to imagine this car cruising around on Friday nights or accompanying its owner to date night. If you’d like to call this 1979 Dodge Magnum yours, make your offer on eBay.
The only new car I ever almost bought.
18 and I wanted a console shift.
Dealership tried pressuring me to take one with a column shift out of stock, and I walked out.
Mopar guy for 50 years though.
Good for you David. In 2009 I went to buy a new Challenger SRT8 in 6spd manual. Dealership tried to tell me SRT was only in automatic and laughed at me. Tried to get me to buy an auto.
They wouldn’t even look on the website said they didn’t have to, they sold them and they only come in auto. I walked out.
Seems like Dodge dealers never learned.
Not to be negative, but is this writer Sara really AI?
I’ve witnessed a lot of strange comments; this particular write up; black t-top and automatic headlight doors.
Several other minor instances, but things that are easily verified…
Just seems out of character for an automotive journalist.
The car that drove Richard Petty into the arms of GM.
