The Porsche 944 was the third Porsche model to feature a transaxle set-up, a pretty significant departure from the brand’s well-known 911. In 1987 the US Porsche 944 Turbo was one of the first cars ever to include both driver and passenger airbags. Porsche also developed a race version of the car which often leads to better consumer versions. This 944 Turbo is listed for sale for $18,000 on Facebook in Spokane, Washington.

The car’s exterior is finished in factory Alpine White and appears to be in great condition. Based on the car’s 137k miles and age it’s safe to assume there are some minor stone chips and damage throughout. The car wears well-proportioned 16-inch wheels. Some of the most distinguishing features of these 944s are the pop-up lights and aggressive front end.

The interior is finished in a stunning factory burgundy inline with the car’s Turbo trim level. The burgundy is ubiquitous throughout the entire cabin. The interior is in exceptional condition. Some minor age-related damage should be expected but is not apparent in the photos. The speedometer reads up to 180mph and an oil level light is present. The car came equipped with cruise control, power-adjustable seats, and power windows.

A turbocharged and intercooled 2.5 liter inline-4 sends 220 horsepower to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that they installed new rear axles, re-ran the vacuum lines, did a full paint repair, installed a new power steering pump and lines, changed all fluids, and replaced the rear hatch seal. Despite the higher mileage, this 944 turbo is in excellent condition and is said to run and drive great. These cars are known to be incredibly fun to drive and have an analog feel behind the wheel. This car would be a great weekend driver or addition to an existing Porsche enthusiast’s collection. Went racing for turkey day at a race called the Turkey Trot. As for the 944 it’s one of the best driving cars ever built. All the bugs out, good design, and quick enough to satisfy anyone.

Wrong coast and a year early but I would love to have one of these in my driveway. This one looks like a fine example.
