It may not be the most attractive sports car ever built, but this little Toyota was a sweet handling machine when new. Unfortunately, this particular one has been off the road for two years. The seller claims that it ran fine then, but that it won’t start now. They assume that after flushing the tank, throwing in a new battery, and installing some new tires, it will be ready to go. Even if it needs a little more work, the $699 asking price here on eBay make it a tempting proposition. Thanks goes to Jim S for the tip!

listed as salvage and water damaged in its veh report
Bad voodoo
Stay away
Thanks for pointing that out Sukey, they didn’t mention that in the listing. Where is the link to the report? That could explain the low asking price. Hopefully the person who bought it knows what they are getting.
Go on the listing (even though ended, you can still get it by clicking “see original listing.” Under vehicle specifics, click on “Title Check: Major Issue” in Highlights (center section). Scroll down to the 2 red highlighted items.
Yeah and it would of helped if he pushed it out of the flood zone to take the pics. People are idiots.
You would prefer deception, AMC Steve?
The price is right for what it is. If it’s close enough I’d grab it. Those were ahead of their time, and a great car.
they were cool little cars, weren’t they…
Never had the opportunity to drive one…must be like driving a dependable little go kart!!
For $699 on Ebay he doesn’t need to move it anywhere. But if he did, he could ask $725 maybe…
“Not the most attractive sports car ever built..”? Compared to…?.. A Jaguar E-Type? No, that’s correct. Compared to a Lamborghini Miura? Correct again. But, in its market niche – small, inexpensive, mid-engine, two-seat sports cars, not straight-line road burners, but well-handling, small, inexpensive sports cars – I can’t think of a more attractive sports car. Other than maybe the Fiat X1/9 and/or the Lancia Spider, possibly.
Ydnar, he already is being deceptive. He doesn’t mention it being a flood car in the ad. I mean if your going to lie you might as well go all the way.
I’d like to see the evidence, if folks are going to be accusatory, they need to produce the evidence. Copy and paste is tour friend. He said she said does not cut it with me.
See my answer to Steve above.
I never knew that. I have only bought one car off of ebay, and I think I have sold two over the last ten years.
Thank you very much.
Title listed as clear too. Hmmmm…..
27 Year old cars in most states don’t even get titles. Of the states that do issue titles for cars that old, the majority issue “exempt” titles… thus whatever has been has been. Seriously, I can’t believe anyone cares about the title status of a car this old. It has no impact on value on something that needs restoration.
It’s a Mister 2! Sorry. I can’t see one of these without thinking that.
M R not! Another old one.
Gone, best offer accepted. I always liked these, the 2nd gen MR2 were even neater looking, and came with a turbo, I had a 3rd gen Spyder, it was a fun convertible and could be hopped up as well.
Street legal go kart. Totally worth owning, at least once. Probably twice.
If you get the chance to drive a supercharged
It will dance
Understeer, oversteer, slide, drift.
And a low enough speed to avoid injury in an accident.
In all fairness the title check shows the water damage in 1989 at 126 miles and the salvage designation from 1995 at 61,430 mi. so probably not really relevant any longer, especially at $699. These are fun little cars and it would have been worth every dime.
Fun little cars, supercharged ones are even more fun….2nd gear issues when driven hard the syncros wear
