When Chevrolet introduced the Chevy II/Nova in 1962, it was everything the Corvair wasn’t. It was a conventional compact with the water-cooled engine sitting up front. It was more like the Ford Falcon, and the two vehicles would dominate smaller car sales in the U.S in the first half of the 1960s. The seller has two Nova convertibles that were envisioned as two restorations rather than one being a donor for the other. Located in or near a shed in Federal Way, Washington, this duo is available here on craigslist for $10,000 even. Another tip from Barn Finder “Curvette.”

It appears that Chevrolet only offered the Chevy II (and the snappier Nova) as a drop-top for just two years, 1962 and 1963. Sales were about even for both years at 48,500 copies in total. The seller has one of each, with the ’63 going a step further by also being a Nova SS. Neither is complete, and the seller may have been working on the pair for some time (with neither going very far).

From the photos, it’s hard to tell which one is the Super Sport. Per the seller, the SS has a rebuilt six-cylinder (230 cubic inches?) and an automatic transmission (2-speed Powerglide?). We’re told the seller has accumulated $10,000 in parts to fix the SS and bring it back to its original state. The mileage on the SS is unknown, the odometer quit working, and the title is MIA.

The ’62 Nova was going to become a restomod muscle car and has a 350 V8 that came out of a Chevy Camaro. Its status or vintage is not revealed. You might opt to continue with the seller’s vision for two drivers or decide to just make one good car out of the pair. If so, which one would you save, the SS or the restomod?
