This 1990 Ford Mustang GT is as clean as they come, with under 30,000 miles and presenting like a near-new specimen with gorgeous two-tone paint. The Mustang would have been a fully-loaded car back in the day, with GT trim and an automatic transmission. It clearly was used sparingly as a weekend driver and is listed here on eBay with bids to $21,889 and the reserve unmet.
The two-tone paint job and the slats over the taillamps are two of the most recognizable features of a Fox body Mustang, and both details appear to be in mint condition. Heck, even the luggage rack is a charming detail that would look out of place on most convertibles these days but works surprisingly well here. What’s amazing is that the first owner likely requested that their GT be delivered with this feature installed!
The sport bucket seats are in mint condition, as is the gray upholstery. The Mustang shows little in the way of wear and tear with near-perfect carpets and plastic trim to accompany the clean bucket seats. The automatic transmission mutes this Mustang’s personality a bit, but it’s likely a fantastic cruiser that will be a turnkey driver for years to come with nominal maintenance costs at best. No sign of cracked plastic on the dash, either.
The engine bay is in beautiful condition and modifications are non-existent. A Champion battery is the right choice for a survivor like this, and shows an attention to detail you love to see in car like this. The seller mentions that it comes with a brand new white top, and while the jury is out on the color choice of the roof, it does make this minty Mustang the epitome of a Palm Beach cruiser. What do you think the reserve is set at, and will this clean Fox body find a new owner at a sale price north of $25K?
Does look great. Was not a fan of the Fox body when they came out. They do grow on you. If it was closer I would go look at it.
Nicely appointed w luggage 🧳 rack.
Ready to pack your bags, and head South for the winter. 🌴 ☀️
Yes,l remember a car very similar to this, believe it was a 89-90,same colors, and same gray interior convertible.l great friend of mine back in the day was, giving her Mom’s car,she loved it so much that one night she lost control of it,it flipped, and or rolled a few times she survived, but her girlfriend did, not, they these early edition car’s didn’t have a convertible roll, bar, which were more standard later, sure wish it would’ve happened 😀, we talked some after but it affected her,she never was the same, l really miss the, car, and or her girlfriend.
I love the Fox body but I have come to prefer the LX over the GT…..
If it was 5spd I’d say its worth it….automatic is not a mustang to me mine as well get a thunderbird at that point.
Nice car, nice price.
I’m not a big fan of the Fox bodied ones either, but they do grow on you, and this is one model I did like when they were new. I prefer a white top myself, so no problem there. I was surprised to see cloth seats for some reason, I guess I just expected leather. Looking at the pictures of the dash, I recognize so many from the parts bin that were in my Dad’s Tempo! It’s super clean and would be a lot of fun. I’m wondering why people are bidding against each other at less than a thousand under the Buy It Now price 🤔 Just pull the trigger!
I had an ‘88 LX 5.0 because the add ons on the GT were gaudy and they still are. The LX had the same engine with a clean look. You can keep this thing.
Love the car, but I can’t buy a Mustang with an automatic transmission.
A 30 year old car with 20k miles and 6 owners. Low miles on an old car doesn’t mean much. Everything on the car is 30 years old, except the battery, and gas in the tank. This is a $15,000 car. Some of these “barn finds” are disguised as dealer sales.
I ordered a ’90 Mustang GT convertible and the luggage rack was standard. I don’t even recall a delete option. Fully decked out I would have expected leather seats, but the cloth on these looks to have held up better than my leather did. I thought the silver bottom was cheap and plastic looking so as soon as I took delivery had it painted to match the electric blue topside and it was gorgeous. With the 5 speed transmission she was my total dream car at the time!
Somebody seriously lost this car by bidding $111 dollars below the Buy It Now and not budging!
I had a 90GT hardtop with the same color combo that unfortunately had a slush box trans. It was decent once I installed a 3:73 rear gear, but the automatic really let it down. I sold it 20 years ago for $5k, if it had the 5 speed trans I probably would still have it.
