28k Original Miles! 1959 Cadillac

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

There are very few classic cars that are more recognizable than a 1959 Cadillac. The giant rear fins reached their “peak” in ’59. Their bullet tail lights have been used in countless custom car and motorcycle builds. The Ghostbusters car was a 1959 Cadillac ambulance. With such popularity comes a high price tag. A nice ’59 convertible can command well into six figures. This one is said to be a 28k mile, all-original coupe and can be found here on Craigslist with an asking price of $60,000. Located in Hesperia, California, this looks like a very solid car. Take a look for yourself.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information in the ad. The photos can speak for themselves for the most part though. These cars feature acres of chrome and trim. Besides the right side of the trunk edge, the rear chrome looks good. I’m guessing some metal polish and elbow grease will clean them up well. If they need to be re-chromed, you’re looking at a pretty hefty bill.

The ad says this car was a barn find, but there are no photos of the car in the barn nor are there any interior or engine compartment photos. Hopefully, at $60,000, the seller will be willing to provide more photos to potential buyers. Overall, this looks like a really solid car, what do you think?

“Photos provided once money is in hand” Seriously, who puts a car on sale for that much but is too lazy to provide decent info?

I agree! This guy is insane. I love ’59 Cadillacs, but this example sure isn’t worth any where near the ABSURD PRICE. Where is the documentation etc?

    “bought new”

implying the seller is the original owner?

Looks solid but the mileage claim & price are ridiculous. Get off the meth.

I’ve actually lived in Hesperia, California, for a number of years. It’s between Barstow, valif and San Bernardino California , less than 5 miles from Victorville, ca. I’ve seen this very car before, on Main St. In 2004. It’s definately NOT a barn find, and the interior was mice and rodent infested. I don’t think anyone should pay attention to this ad for this 59 caddy. Ppl there suffer from delusions of grandeur, when selling classic cars in this condition. It’s not bad on the outside but idk what they’ve done or not done since I’ve last seen it. Yes, meth is quite prevalent in that area, to reply to Mark..(lol). $25 l would be most of spend to buy it. Alot of issues, no pics of engine nor interior. What unreasonable people! You cannot claim a car as a “barn find” without posting evidence. No pics of barns or other similar structures. Bcuz there aren’t any. As I said: I’ve seen this car driven in 2004 on main street on Hesperia.

The question is, does he want to sell it or does he want to show off? If the owner wants to sell it, he needs to be a lot more forthcoming. If he wants to show off, we’ve seen it 😳

Probably the next 59 Coupe project that we see will cost $160k…
They raise the price of shabby 59 Cadillacs every month or two for no reason.
Yes it is a beautiful car but in a condition that requires tons of money to restore it to its former beauty if you want to do it right of course.
I know what I’m talking about, I had 4 of them. It’s sad that this hobby has long grown into a business with unrealistic prices for project cars.

Let’s see, no photos of interior, trunk or engine. Exterior photos reveal rust, missing trim and sketchy chrome. Will need complete repaint and who knows what else. Asking $60,000. LOL.

One can find ’59 in the same or better condition for $18k. This one, for the shape it’s in is grossly overpriced. At $30k, it’s grossly overpriced. That the seller yields too little information at such a high price is a red flag. Pass.

The “chrome” is actually stainless steel on these cars and is extremely hard to find. My buddy has one in about this condition and he paid 5500 for it with a running engine and it moves under its own power.

    28,000 miles.

    Stop it, please.

BF: stop being so bloody credulous when you write up these overpriced junk heaps.

There are a couple of these coupes for sale locally for less than ten thousand dollars for the pair. They are both very rough but at least you would have fifty thousand to spend on them before you got to the asking price for this car.

Where is this pair for sale?

They are in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, up the Fraser River from Vancouver. They are coupes and they are 1960 vintage, not the more desirable 1959 version. The price for the pair is eight thousand Canadian, about six and some US. As I said they are rough but not a helluva lot rougher than this car.

I don’t know what this individual is thinking but for $60K this individual should have this on in showroom condition. @ $60K this is a definite pass. not wort h the time to call and ask for more info.

The post states it is in “fair” condition. It’s a wreck! It reminds me of the 200 year-old VW bug Woody Allen discovers in a cave in the film “Sleeper”. He turns the ignition and it fires right up. That would be worth $60k. I wouldn’t pay 60,000 cents for this disaster on wheels.
