Ford F-Series trucks from the early and middle 90s are one of the hotter segments in the vintage vehicle market right now. What was once the everyday workhorse (and still is, honestly) can now be a very smart buy if you happen to snatch one up before it hits the open market. That’s likely what the seller of this V8-equipped 1992 Ford F-250 4×4 listed here on eBay did, as it has under 30,000 original miles and the listing indicates they snagged it off of the long-term original owner.
That’s how many of these survivor-grade trucks are turning up for sale, as the older owners likely don’t realize (or care) that these trucks in mint condition command a premium. The F-250 shown here isn’t even a diesel-equipped truck – which command a serious premium – and bids are already over $20,000. I guarantee you the buyer didn’t acquire the F-250 for that, but I don’t hold it against him as anyone who bought a new F-Series in the 1990s likely had zero thoughts about it someday becoming a collectible. The interior of this Ford is in excellent condition as you an see in the photos, with a host of convenience and power features.
This 7.5L V8 is a serious workhorse, with around 400 lb.-ft. of torque and 245 horsepower. It will move your house, boat, or neighbor’s eyesore of a project car with ease, but don’t expect to see much in the way of MPGs. Real-world driving suggests 9-11 miles per gallon is the norm, so hopefully gas prices will continue to trend down. The seller notes that the original owner kept extensive paperwork with the truck, so hopefully that includes mechanical records. Recent servicing includes new spark plugs, distributor cap / rotor, bottom radiator hose and belt, and a new set of tires that has been driven less then 50 miles since being installed.
The two-tone paint job is period-correct and holding up well. The seller notes there are some scratches from a bed cap that was removed, and some beauty marks here and there. The original wheels were one of the more intriguing designs that Ford installed on its trucks, and the gunmetal finish looks good against the blue and white paint. The Ford is a California truck, so of course, the body appears to be rust-free. It’s expensive, but they don’t come up for sale in this sort of condition all that often.
What a clean workhouse of a truck. As it looks so gently used, this seems like a real unicorn for an F250. I think those are hubcaps that would have come with the XLT package on the factory steel wheels but could be mistaken?
What a nice truck, probably a gentleman’s truck. I love the colors, I had an 85 s10 like that. Some of the hideous new trucks might even look good in a two tone, but of course it would need to be gray and a slightly different gray. :(
I have a black’97 F250HD OBS powered with the 351 it’s a reliable worker.I was told the truck came from Georgia with faded paint and still has original body and stock riveted spring shackles holding up the suspension lift! East Coast is not good for these older vehicles but they are emerging from dry storage.
True Survivor! I bid on a ‘92 Note edition 4×4 truck and couldn’t get it for a reasonable price. Years later, I still wish I would have got it.
Probably a better, more reliable truck than a new one! Worth every penny it gets!
