29 Original Miles: 1991 Ford Bronco XLT

Sometimes we come across vehicles with 29,000 miles but today we have a 4WD 1991 Ford Bronco XLT with only 29 miles. Yes, that is correct. Only 29 miles and that’s probably less miles than you drove your car or truck before lunch time today. The Bronco is for sale here on BringATrailer and there are five days remaining in the auction. Currently, the bid price is $38,000. The Bronco is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is being sold by a dealer who acquired it after it has been sitting in a storage facility since new.

I was expecting this truck to be fitted with one of Ford’s small block V8s but it is equipped with the durable 4.9 liter incline six cylinder engine and connected to a five speed manual transmission. Ford rated this engine at 145 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque when new. The truck is equipped with a 2 speed transfer case, limited slip differential, cooling package, fuel injection, manual locking hubs, handling package with power brakes and power steering.

The interior is optioned with power windows, power locks, air conditioning, cruise control, tilt steering and AM/FM Cassette stereo deck. The Bronco paper work includes a Deluxe Marti Report, third party inspection report, manufacturer’s literature and a clean Carfax report. The truck is titled in Wisconsin. As you would imagine, the interior looks new and the carpet and seats are covered in plastic.

The 4×4 Bronco is painted in colonial white with a scarlet interior. The rear drop down tailgate sports the popular power window. The only issues noted are that the driver side vent window has been replaced, some of the exterior chrome work has imperfections and there are dings in the lower driver side rocker panel and a few other places. I am not sure how that happened. All in all this is and as new truck. I would think this would be something to enjoy and I am not sure about how much it would depreciate if you drove it sparingly.

Nice looking Bronco. Who knew 30 years ago you could put a brand new one on ice for 3 decades and double you money…
My Buddy had an 87 Eddie Bauer with a V8 and that thing was a dog. Beautiful, but slow. I wonder how this gets down the road with a 6? I’m sure the manual helps a bit.

Maybe so but even doubling your money means you didn’t gain as much as you would if you had invested it.

I’m certainly not suggesting it’s a good investment..

Those 300 six bangers were great. Long lasting and plenty of torque. That, along with the slant-6 from Mopar and the AMC 4.0 that had an HO version in the Jeeps, were some of the greatest domestic 6 bangers. A buddy had 1992 F150 XLT 4×4 that was mostly loaded with the 4.9. The manual helped a lot.

If you aren’t doing any serious towing, the 4.9 is great for most people.

Still, this is way too much money. It’s a 1991.

I have no personal experience with the 300 but I’ve heard nothing but good about them. Actually I was shocked to learn it was still around by ’92!
The Jeep HO 4.0 is an engine I know much better and it’s a GEM of an engine in stock form, and also plenty of power potential when upgraded. So, so sad Jeep replaced that torquey indestructable inline with the V6…

Agreed. I wish my Studebaker Champ was a 6.
Not complaining about the V8 but there.s just something special about being able to fit inside the engine compartment when you.re changing spark plugs and there is room to set your 32 ounce thirstbuster on the air cleaner. I don.T drink thirstbuster any more but back at age 17 they hit the spot in Yuma. Well it was a dry heat.

If you change the throttle body and the coil to an Accel, it will run like a ‘scalded Ape.’

I know, cuz I did that to my ‘88 E.B. And it hauls axx!

I had a ‘92 F150 with the straight 6. It can yank a house off its foundation. It’s not the fastest to 60, and quite the gas hog. I had to change the plugs every 6 months. But it is still my favorite truck I’ve owned. Take the back off that bro CE and you have my truck. Man I miss that thing.

I knew it wouldn’t be long before comments about OJ and his one glove and the Bronco would appear. ;)

38 thousand dollars??? That must be some might fine weed the seller is smoking. $8,300 sound much more reasonable.

You mean the OJ/Cowlings factor is not worth 29,700 to you? Everyone in your neighborhood would watch you drive by, slowly.

It’s a 29 year old vehicle with no maintenance history. It certainly looks nice but every soft part is suspect.

I think you meant that his buddy Al drove it more than 29 miles while OJ cowered in the back.

A friend of mine bought a new Annniversary Corvett. Loaded it on a roll back. Unloaded it and never drove it. It was his investiment car. Until his wife divorced him and he had to sale the car. Lost alot on it. I wonder how long and how far it will travel . If its driven. Before it needs a new seal,transmission–motor–rear-end ? A leaking seal can be costly real quick. I guess some wants to look and not use it. Me,I,d drive it and sure wouldn,t pay some big price for it.

I saw this Bronco years ago when I worked at Michigan Truck plant in Wayne Michigan. Michigan Truck built that generation of Bronco. At the time I was there they built Expedition Navigator. There was a bulding beside the plant that was used for repairs. And this Bronco had been stored there since it had been built. That was around 2006 time frame. I think it had 22 miles on it then. I always joked it was the OJ Simpson Edition.. If its not the one that was at MTP there is another white Bronco out there with extremely low miles.. So I guess this one wouldn’t be so rare then….
