We’ve talked about vehicle wish lists here before and mine is loaded with some unusual ones, like a Subaru 360 Young S, a Comuta-Car EV, and other oddballs. That being said, most of my list consists of trucks, usually special editions or ones that are unusual to see today. A Ford Unibody, a Dodge “The Dude” pickup, and one like this 1995 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning in white, my preferred color for this model. The seller has this great-looking truck listed here on eBay in Sykesville, Maryland and bidding has taken off to the tune of $28,200 so far.
I think the reason for the high bid price on this one is that it’s loaded with performance engine parts and pieces. As most of you know, I prefer original or restored-to-original specs, but this may be a case where I overlook that. Of course, I’ll have to remember to buy a Powerball ticket tomorrow before I can throw down a bid on this beautiful beast.
I thought this SVT Lightning looked lower than usual, sometimes an iffy stance, in my opinion when it’s way overdone, but I think it looks perfect here. The seller says that it has in fact been lowered and it’s all original other than the paint on the hood. It has just under 30,000 miles and looks as perfect as can be. Don’t confuse this SVT Lightning with the new Lightning EV pickup, as if that would ever happen.
The first round of the SVT Lightning pickup was made from 1993 to 1995 and the next variation came along in 1999 and was made until 2004. I prefer the first trucks with the square body. I know the next models were much faster and probably better overall, but if I don’t like the look of something I couldn’t care less how it performs. The interior looks almost like new, as does inside the bed. I can see why the bids are much higher than usual here. Speaking of that, Hagerty is at $38,900 for a #2 excellent condition truck. This truck would have been around $22,000 new.
Here’s the engine, ziggity-zam! It looks fantastic and should be a Ford 351-cu.in. OHV V8, which would have had 240 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque when new. It’s anyone’s guess what this one is cranking out now. A four-speed automatic transmits power to the rear wheels only and the seller says this one has a “Ford Motorsport blower. Voctech aftercooler. Trick flow head and cam, header, and exhaust, performed work done by JPC Performance.” What’s your guess on the final hammer price of this white Lightning?
Good write-up Scotty. Take the desirable performance-oriented Lightning, give it additional performance upgrades but keep the (mostly) stock appearance, and make sure the body, interior, etc. have had great care. The result is a highly desirable example which brings the big bucks. These have a strong following.
Scotty, if not Powerball, maybe you have a rich uncle? Seems like all of us need one or the other to fund our classic vehicle mental wish list.
Thanks, Bob. I’ve always wanted a “first-generation” SVT Lightning in white, this one would do nicely.
Those under size tires look like crap IMHO…
Love the sliding rear window option. Nice bonus especially on a regular cab.
Nice lil rig. Rear bumper looks up to task.
Oh oh, I predict the seller will be relisting this one, it zoomed up to $43,000 in a very short while, which always seems iffy to me, especially with almost three days left on the auction.
Auction update – prepare to sit down: this one sold for a mind-blowing $45,100! That’s between #2 excellent and #1 Concours condition for Hagerty’s value
