In 1984, Buick was planning ahead. The new front wheel drive Electra came out mid-1984 as a 1985 model. However, to maybe grab some former Electra owners that didn’t want to convert to front wheel drive, Buick offered a top-line model of the Lesabre that had many of the features of the Electra. In 1984, the grille of the Lesabre took on a stronger link to the Electra grille, and the taillights were widened to look more like those of the Electra. Oldsmobile did a similar thing with the Delta 88 LS which looked very similar to the Ninety-Eight. The Lesabre would remain rear wheel drive full size for one more year before downsizing in 1986 to front wheel drive. Here is a 1985 Buick Lesabre Limited Collectors Edition 2 door coupe for sale here on Craigslist in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
This Lesabre has its original Beige paint and original Tan vinyl landau top. There are no flaws on the exterior of this car. It features white wall tires, wire wheel covers, and white chrome rocker molding. The car has been garage kept.
Inside, you feel like you’re driving an Electra Park Avenue because the seats are the same ones used in that model from 1982 to 1984. On top of that, these are finished with tan leather rather than the standard velour. The seats are 50/50 split notchback with dual center armrests. The driver’s seat is power operated, along with windows and door locks. There appears to be a stain on the floor mat and carpeting in the driver’s area, but otherwise the interior looks fantastic. This Lesabre’s interior is original other than recently receiving a new headliner.
The engine is a 5.0 liter V-8 with 4 barrel carburetor mated with a 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission. This is a one owner vehicle that only has 29,200 miles. The seller is asking $6,000 for this nice 1985 Buick Lesabre Limited Collectors Edition. Have you been looking for a nice full-size Buick from this era?
This is an interesting price, not too out of range, may even be right on the money with the leather interior. No races to be won with the 307, and that is okay with many buyers. A peek at the ad shows it has the electronic climate control panel, so it was ordered well. These don’t have many problems. We had several in our family when new. Nice car @
They came with a nice leatherette booklet that had a history booklet, collector key blanks, fob and frame worthy pics of past year LeSabres etc.
They pop up on eBay from time to time.

Well I’m usually pretty easygoing, but c’mon now, collector’s edition?
That’s not to say I don’t like the car, I do. In fact, I wouldn’t mind having it as a daily driver, (would want the velour though), but it’s something different and beautiful, compared to what’s driving all around us on the roads. Price seems about right too.
…and 11 years later, Buick used this same hood ornament on the last year of the Roadmaster Limited.. So this is first in the series of Collector Editions.
Hey Big_Fun, maybe Buick should have used it again 9 years later when the last Park Avenue and Lesabre were made in 2005.
Even Chevy got in on the upgrade act in 1986 when they introduced the Caprice Classic Brougham with available leather 50/50 split bench seat wit the advent of GM premium cars going fwd.

I had an 83 LeSabre Custom, similar to this car, not as well equipped but still nice. It was a great car, smooth, roomy and quiet. At $6k and only 29000 garage kept miles and a 2 door, this seems like a good buy to me.

This WAS the ‘hard top’ from ’77-’86. The usual pillarless hardtops (2 & 4dr.) went away by 1977. The last year for BIG GM’s [121.5″ wheelbase] was ’76. In ’77, full-size GM cars had a 116″ wheelbase.
