Only 30k Miles? 1969 Ford Ranchero

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

The 1969 Ford Ranchero was marketed as a sleek and sporty luxury pick-up. Ford designed the car to have excellent handling and offered a variety of powerful engine options. The example at hand is said to have 30k miles and is offered on craigslist in Camano Island, Washington for $5,000. Thanks to Tony Primo for the tip.

If the paint is original, the car appears to be finished in Brittany Blue Poly. The exterior presents okay. There are some scratches, chips, and blemishes throughout. The seller notes a small wrinkle in the front passenger fender. The car is also missing some of its emblems. Most of the issues could likely be easily remedied. A hood scoop, rally wheels, and fiberglass tonneau cover are all present.

The interior is finished in black throughout and is in fair condition considering the car’s age. The car is equipped with bucket seats, a console with a floor shifter, and an in-dash tachometer. There appears to be some minor damage on the seats that shouldn’t be too hard to fix. The brake pedal is said to stick to the floor which requires it to be manually lifted.

The car has been parked for 10 years under a carport. Before the car was put in storage, the owner installed a Jasper-remanufactured Windsor V8 engine. The seller notes that the new engine only has a couple of thousand miles on it. The car is said to start and move. Allegedly, the engine still needs a tune-up before it’s road-ready. A C-stripe decal kit accompanies the car. The car absolutely needs some work before it is ready for any long drives. This Ranchero presents the perfect opportunity for someone to do some relatively mild restoration work. Oh it’s gone! Even that wonderful electric fuel pump that’s so well mounted.

For the asking price that fuel pump wouldn’t matter. If the pictures are even close to representing it’s true condition it’s a steal. It looks like it will make a great driver or for swapmeet truck.

A Steal. Owner wanted it gone.
Love the floor shift, console and Buckets…and tach.
Nice interior with dash in good shape it looks like.
I have a bench in mine like many.

This looks like a real bargain.
Nice overall with PS and Pwr disc brakes.
Possible small fixes to brake master & booster- any brake fluid in the master?

A real good start for someone!

This is exactly how I like to buy ’em, needing brake and other basic work and low priced. A carbon copy of the one my dad, a “Ranchero Guy”, had- starting with a ’57 all the way to a ’79 or so. Wish I had seen it earlier.

Super easy to work on these – spent many hours in and under and around my 68 coupe. If this were on the East Coast I would have seriously looked at buying it. Great ute.

The Good: Bucket seats, floor shifter with console, V8 engine. The Bad: Brakes, general cleanliness, no A/C. The Ugly: It’s gone and not to me, LOL! No mention is made of the displacement for the “Jasper remanufactured V8”, but a 351W wouldn’t be a bad guess. Good Luck to the Buyer, and Happy Motoring!
