390 V8 and Factory Air: 1967 Ford Mustang GT

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Is this a great looking ’67 Ford Mustang Fastback or what? It looks like a full-sized Hot Wheels car with its sparkling Acapulco Blue color, that classic fastback styling, the optional GT package, and those Styled Steel Wheels as Ford called them. It also helps that the seller chose a sunny day with a beautiful blue sky to photograph this Mustang against. The images are very pleasing on the eyes. Submitted for your approval is a very well-equipped ’67 ‘Stang that came from the factory with the optional 390-cubic inch V8, four-on-the-floor, a deluxe two-tone interior, and even factory air conditioning. No Plain Jane Mustang here.

For model year 1967, customers had a choice of 16 Super Diamond Lustre Enamel single-tone paints  This metallic Code D Acapulco Blue really shines in the sun and I’m not seeing any issues with this Mustang’s exterior. There are also photos of a very clean trunk and the car’s undercarriage. The optional GT package tacked on an additional $200 on top of the base price of a $2,600 fastback. Around 24,000 1967 Mustangs were sold with the GT Equipment Group (as Ford called it) and included: 4-inch fog lamps built into the grille, front power disc brakes, a special handling package, GT accent stripes and badging, and Styled Steel Wheels on F70-14 wide-oval tires.

The Mustang’s tasteful, sporty cabin is as attractive as its exterior. The Deluxe Two-Tone Blue Decor Interior is in clean, nice condition and looks very sharp. This Mustang also has a number of goodies including SelectAire air conditioning (found on only 15% of ’67 Mustangs), power steering, power front disc brakes, upper and lower center consoles, a Shelby three spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel on a tilt-away column, factory 140-mph speedometer, 0-6,000 rpm tachometer, and the Courtesy Light Group.

There are no posted photos of the Mustang’s engine bay for some unknown reason. Of the four V8 choices that could be ordered, this one has the new-for-’67 S-Code 390-cubic inch Thunderbird Special (that was a $264 option). It generated 320 horsepower when new, is mated with a numbers-matching 4-speed Toploader manual transmission, and the seller says there’s 88,000 on the odometer. Nothing is mentioned if they’re the car’s original miles or not. This blue beauty is currently residing in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and is for sale here on eBay. As I’m writing this, it’s been generating quite a bit of interest. Over 500 people have viewed it in the last 24-hours and 50 bids have been submitted so far with the top bid sitting at an even $60,000. This is one desirable ’67 Mustang GT that checks a lot of boxes. I’m betting the next lucky owner will be proud to drive and show this Acapulco Blue beauty!

As these go; they don’t get better. I’d be happy just to look at it

I’m not surprised it’s getting a lot of interest. An Acapulco Blue ’67 GT fastback with a 390, 4-speed, A/C, interior decor group, full instrumentation with tachometer, exterior decor group, and louvered taillight panel is just about the ultimate 1967 Mustang. If the seller has a Marti report to back it up, all the better. The aftermarket wood wheel makes me suspicious that some of the other equipment was added, as well.

I agree with Ron’s good write-up, and the above comments. High-end well-equipped Mustang, in great shape. The Acapulco Blue paint really shines, highlighted by the good photography. Big bucks. It deserves a Marti Report to cement its birth.

Man, I miss my 68 S-code GT. Same color and drivetrain. No ac though. On judgement day I will have to account for the sin of letting it go.

Perhaps, on Judgement Day, god will say, “Thanks for the cool Mustang- I drive it every Sunday. I really wish that you had ordered the A/C, however, and do you have the key for the wheel locks?”.

Absolutely beautiful. Great color, fast back, great options 390 and a 4 speed. I like the wood steering wheel too, its a nice touch. Looks like a high quality restoration.

Apparently, someone with $60K+ in readily-available funds contacted the seller directly and cut a deal. I have done this (at a much lower price point) numerous times. It is surprising how often it is successful, as sellers often have a number in their mind that will close the deal.

I have found that an approach similar to: “Do you have a number that would make _____ go out of your life?”, through eBay messaging, often brings a reply. At that point, it is up to you to either send the funds or walk, depending upon the number that they respond with. Sometimes, people don’t realize what they have and you get lucky.

    Mister Denny,
    We looked everywhere.
Looks like this page is missing.
Do you have another link to it?

It has likely been sold in an off-eBay side deal. That is typically what has happened when that message appears on eBay. Folks who have the required funds to meet the seller’s requirements can make deals happen quickly. See my comment above.

My eyes lit up when I saw this. So close to my second car that I had in 1970. No A/C in mine and I had a three speed manual and faux wire wheels. And just like that it is sold already. Mustangs like this really do move fast.

It looks like this was a scam, when eBay deletes a page like that it usually is. Otherwise it would say sold or the listing was ended by the seller because it’s no longer available.
