396 V8 Power! 1966 Chevrolet Impala 4-Door

Chevrolet had a record sales year in 1965 when it came to full-size models. So, it’s not surprising that sales dropped by more than 20% in 1966 because the cars were little changed. You more commonly found the 396 cubic-inch big-block V8 in 2-door hardtops, but that engine could be ordered in any full-size model and body style. This ’66 4-door hardtop likely had said engine when it left the factory, but another is there now. But the car looks spectacular, and we’re told it runs equally well. From Troutman, North Carolina, this hot Impala is available here on craigslist for $29,900 OBO. Another cool tip from Pat L.!

The seller says this Chevy has been restored, which supports its condition at a collective 113,000 miles. The Marina Blue paint looks grand, though it would show better had the seller taken the automobile out of the garage for photos. We’re told all the Impala’s sheet metal is original and it was a Southern car from the start. That should eliminate rust from the checklist of anything to be worried about.

If this car Impala had a 396 from the factory, that has since been replaced by another that has received a mild build, although the seller doesn’t detail to what extent it’s not stock. The same can be said of the TH-400 automatic transmission and the car has a GM 12-bolt rear-end. But the Chevy has a Holley manifold and factory carburetor (we assume 4-barrel).

This automobile has been shown in the past and has been an award winner, perhaps during the 15-year- period the seller has owned this documented Chevrolet. The Rally wheels and raised white lettered tires are a nice touch, although the latter wasn’t offered as an option until 1967. This car should attract a lot of attention wherever it goes, regardless of the number of doors.

Lose the dice. Stuipid, distracting and makes me wonder about a car’s owner.

I consider myself a car guy, maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t see any downside to a Quadcab.

Agreed, Dave! The ’65-’66 GM 4-door B & C body hardtops were amongst the best styled QuadCabs in the industry.

You’re not wrong. That so-called car guy who thinks cars have to have two doors is wrong.

Gorgeous sport sedan! However, you are mistaken about the color. It’s not Marina blue,it’s Tropic turquoise.
