3K Original Miles: 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

When we see the former fire trucks from Japan show up for sale, there’s one feature that’s sometimes hard to get your head around: the bright red paint job and never-used hose attachments. Do you really want to drive around in a Japanese market fire truck all day? If you answered no to that question, this Desert Storm edition Toyota Land Cruiser pickup is worth a look. The truck is listed here on eBay with just 3,000 original miles for $56,148.

The seller is in Canada, so factor that into any purchasing equation. The sand-colored paint is a way better choice for a vintage Land Cruiser pickup and allows it to blend into the crowd a bit more than a fire truck would. Of course, you may not drive a truck in such a high state of preservation in anything approaching a crowd; I’m assuming that’s the original paint we’re looking at. The gate graphics are perfect and the same goes for the taillight lenses.

Inside, you’re stepping into a time-warp truck, with near-perfect interior plastics and seat upholstery. The rubber floor coating is to be expected for a “work” truck, which is hilarious to describe this Toyota as considering they are legitimate collector’s items. Toyota pickups, SUVs, and early 4x4s like this Land Cruiser have all ridden an incredibly upward rise in prices, which has made many daily drivers into coveted collector’s items. To think this truck likely traded hands for peanuts when it exited the fire service in Japan.

The engine bay is spotless and we see a familiar powerplant under the hood that will handily outlive the truck itself. The good news is the pickup will likely stick around for a while as well as the body hasn’t been exposed to prodigious amounts of road salt and grime. The asking price is all the money for one of these but it may be somewhat unrepeatable to find a pickup truck-body Land Cruiser with low miles and near-perfect cosmetics.

$56k? Interesting truck, but I don’t need a museum piece. I like to drive what I own.

Thank you for not saying that. It would be disrespectful. Highly accurate, but disrespectful.

At the age of 59 if I bought that now, I would never need another pick up truck as long as I live. With that line of thinking, this is a pretty good price for a truck that will probably still be worth $56k when I am no longer in need of it.

Bidding now up to $75k – I’d say that’s about right for a mint-condition JDM.

Lovely looking Land Cruiser pickup truck. For some reason, Toyota never officially offered a Land Cruiser truck in the USA. It’s too bad. It’d give Toyota buyers something different to choose from. I would’ve bought mine with a 3.0 litre Turbo Diesel and automatic gearbox.
