This 1970 Buick Skylark is an attractive looking vehicle that only has 42,700 miles on the clock. It presents well, with only some fairly minor rust issues in one spot that will need to be addressed. Barn Finder local_sheriff referred the Skylark to us, so thank you for that local_sheriff. The Buick is located in Wichita, Kansas, and is listed for sale here on eBay. The owner has set the opening bid for the car at $4,700.
The Seamist Green paint on the Skylark looks to be really great, although there might be some minor fading on the trunk lid. The Dark Green vinyl top sets off nicely against the paint, and this also looks like it is in pretty good condition. In this photo you can see the rust issue that I was referring to. There is rust around the rear wheel arch and in the bottom of the quarter panel. I do feel that this could be fixed without having to replace the whole panel. The rest of the car looks clean, with no other signs of rust.
Obvious faults inside the Buick seem to be limited to faded carpet, and damaged paint on the glove compartment door. The wheel isn’t original, but everything else inside the car does appear to be. The green interior trim compliments the rest of the car very nicely, while the brocade upholstery on the seats looks to be free of major tears or stains. The condition of the rear seat is just as good, while the headliner also looks like it is close to perfect.
The owner doesn’t supply any photos of the engine, but we do get plenty of information. Under the hood is the 350ci 2-bbl engine, which delivers 260hp. The transmission is the TH-350 automatic, while the Buick also features power steering and air conditioning. The seller purchased the car off the original, elderly owner, and says that it was well cared for by him. He also says that the car starts and runs really nicely, and with plenty of power, it cruises easily at 70mph. He also says that the car doesn’t have any unusual noises or oil leaks.
There is no doubt that the next owner of this Skylark could use the car exactly as it stands, because the current owner is driving the car on a weekly basis. If the rust issue in the quarter panel is addressed, then this looks like it would be a solid car to own and drive. The color combination is extremely attractive, and would make this a bit of an attention grabber wherever it went.
I can’t get past sellers that claim low mileage and their only “proof” is a picture of the speedometer. Maybe it’s accurate, maybe it isn’t, but 871.43 miles per year seems awfully low, no matter the condition of the car. At least this car is in nice overall condition and they aren’t asking an arm and a leg. The car should stands or falls on its condition, not an unsubstantiated claim.

The pic of it driving shows the speedo at zero while cruising by a green light. Guessing speedo cable has been broken since 1975.
Maybe some trickery there but I’m a sucker for green on green so I’m blinded. Also don’t give a fat care how many doors. Nice-weather driver candidate.
Oh man, my family had this identical car in silver! Great car that I got to learn to drive in (after the VW bug). My older bro used get that thing moving pretty quick, one time shadowing a Porsche 911 and a Ferrari Daytona for about 30 miles with his little brother loving every minute of it!
These were really quality cars. Reliable, good handling for the day with excellent power. It would be cool to upgrade this with some modern performance upgrades like upgraded suspension parts, fuel injection, wider steelies (no taller than 16″!) but keep the body and interior stock with original paint. A retro sleeper that could really eat up some miles in comfort!
For those of you claiming good vintage cars at acceptable prices aren’t around any longer; here you go! Simply love the green combo and being an A-body makes locating parts for suspension upgrades a no-brainer.
I’m sure milage is wrong; I never expect a near 50 year old car have seen so little usage.It is the overall condition that matters. No,it’s no GS or 2door, however how many such nice base Skylarks do we see at car meets really?
I don’t know about 42K miles, but I know those brocade seats are original and would not look like this with high mileage.

I’m so tempted to bid on this. I love Buicks 1970 and older. The Skylark being one of my favorites. This car is absolutely gorgeous no matter if the speedometer works or not. Green being my favorite color just adds to the draw. I got to put myself in check here as I can only handle one old Buick at a time. For now it’s my 64 Riviera.
