There is just one day left to bid on this 49,000 mile 1971 Pontiac GTO. The car is reported to still be wearing its original Lucerne Blue paint and to be an unrestored survivor. The GTO is located in Green Valley, Arizona. It is listed here on eBay and has 9 bids leading to a high bid of $27,000. The car is not subject to a reserve. One of the best features is that the car is equipped with a 4 speed transmission. The seller advertises the car as all original just like it came out of the factory.
This GTO has the base 400 cubic inch engine fed by a 4 barrel carburetor that was rated at 255 horsepower net (300 horsepower gross). Torque for this engine was listed at 400 lb ft. The car has its original Rochester Quadrajet and the seller states that he or she has added some chrome dress up items but otherwise the car is stock. There have been no mechanical changes and the odometer reads 49,386 miles which is less than 1,000 miles per year since the car was built.
The interior looks very well kept and is advertised as mint. I have these seats in my 1972 GTO and they are comfortable but offer no lateral support. The car is optioned with air conditioning, power steering and a radio. Interestingly, there is no console between the front bucket seats. The car comes with a custom car cover and the seller states that all original parts have been collected and stored and come with the sale of the car.
In this picture, you can see the clean lines of the rear bumper and recessed tail lights. The dual tipped exhaust exit each side under the bumper. The GTO is reported to not have a spec of rust which should really add to its value. The car rides on factory Pontiac 15×7 Rally II wheels and aftermarket Road Hugger tires that are said to have been recently purchased. The car has been well maintained and every feature is said to work on the GTO. The seller states that he or she is getting old and selling off their collection of cars. This car is worth more than the current bid and should go up before it ends.
Any car that has been cared for as this GTO appears to have been should go to someone that respects the effort and care the seller has maintained in keeping it in near pristine condition. An exceptionally nice car and hope it goes to someone that truly appreciates it.

Im no expert, but I question weather this is a real GTO . The trunk GTO sticker doesn’t appear to be original , from what I remember, and I don’t see quarter panel, or door panel GTO ID. My brother had a 72 Lemans that he bought new with a GTO front end and a 400 engine. He added GTO markings on the quarter panel and trunk. ID Want to see more Documentation.
Bob, I also had a 72 Lemans that I bought new. It was a “GT” model and my
friends kept saying “Why not add an “O to the GT?” So I did, by adding actual GTO emblems. Two years later I traded it in to a Ford dealer as a GTO. No questions asked.
your right, bob i had 72 gto 455ho the sticker are not right i had 4 speed with consal this one dont , i sorry to say i was young and let it get away from me i found out they made about 635 of them thanks
The ad claims a 242 VIN and if so it is a real GTO, but there are a couple of incorrect items other than the aforementioned under-hood additions. The trunk lid sticker is not properly positioned(the “GTO” would have been at the bottom) and also would not have included the “400 CID” callout. Only the D-port 455 got the “CID” and then only on the fender stickers, not the one on the trunk(455 HO would have “455 HO” on the fenders under “GTO.” I’m not sure, but I doubt the stickers would have been black with Lucerne Blue, but rather white. Also, there would not have been an engine callout in the grille of any year GTO.
I had a 71 Goat in 1986. It had a three speed on the floor. Hubcaps, no air. Really bare bones car, just like they advertise in the brochures. I wonder how rare it was. Had to sell to pay divorce lawyer.

Stickers dont last forever, so since its the original paint, and that means 50 years, the chances that original sticker has been replaced is highly likely.

It’s a real GTO the 242 VIN. let’s the real car people know what they are looking at. The wannabe car people can mis out on a ” REAL” nice GTO because they are worried about aftermarket decals and air breather lol.
