My aunt had this same car, just in gold with the tan trim, when new. She only kept it a few months, because she was rear-ended and the frame was bent. She then stepped up to a new 1978 Electra. Nothing like that has ever happened to this survivor. Here is a 1977 Buick Lesabre Custom 4 door sedan for sale here on Craigslist in Louisville, Tennessee. This car was purchased new at Curtis Pontiac-Buick in Lenoir City, Tennessee. It has been garage kept since new. Still, there are a few flaws, but nothing major. The painted trim at the edge of the vinyl roof is rubbing off, there are a couple of scratches in the Buckskin paint and some minor surface rust. Otherwise, the paint appears to be in good condition. Part of the rear bumper filler is also missing. The car has four new tires, including a new spare tire.
Inside we find a nice interior with the velour seating on the front bench seat with center armrest and rear bench seat. There are no cracks on the dash, helped by the color-coordinated dash cover. The interior also has a new headliner. This Lesabre Custom has had the air conditioning overhauled.
The engine is a 403 cubic inch V-8. The car has had a carburetor overhaul. In 2017, it also had a new battery installed with an oil change, new fuel filters, new brake pads, front rotors reconditioned, rear brakes serviced, and front wheel bearings repacked. The car has just 50,200 miles. The original owner’s manual is included. If you’ve been looking for a nice downsized rear wheel drive General Motors full-size car, this could be the one for you. The seller is asking $4,250.
I wouldn’t mind getting out the Mondello Performance catalog and turning that 403 into an absolute beast, and leave the exterior alone except for some wide tires and black steelies with no hubcaps. Kind of a twisted version of the ’67 Impala in Supernatural.
They are a great riding car. Not many sellers would show pics of the paint blemishes that is for sure. I like the car not the colour..
Color question: What color is it? Three shots show pink (not for me). Two shots show beige. One shot shows almost gold. I just can’t hang with the pink. Everything else says I should buy this one. Gas mileage may be a slight problem, but, I’m already driving a full size 4wd pickup. I really like this car.
@Patrick I suggest that you buy it. When I found a car that hit the right buttons, I bought it. Life is too short, buy and drive what you like. If you find having is not as enjoyable as wanting, well you can sell it, someone else will fall in love with it also. I have had many cars, enjoyed the heck out of all of them. Sold them when I don’t need them any more. Zero regrets except the very rare factory A/C equipped 1957 283 power pac Chevy Nomad. Never ever should have sold it even though I sold it for 4 times what I paid for it…Buy the darn Buick because if you don’t… I might .Let us know what you decide.
This is a car that belongs here because it it’s age (42) and overall fine condition. The 403 V-8 is a nice feature. However, it’s just a plainJane larger American sedan with nothing unusual about it. This Buick would do well as a daily driver with no future collectible value.
Gotta disagree – the 77-79 B/CBodies is the last of the GM big blocks. For that alone, it’s collectable.
1976 was the last year of the so called “big block” Buick, Olds and Pontiac. The Olds 403 was part of the 260, 307, 330 and 350 family.
We had one of these as our shop runner when I was a kid. The were well engineered, handled and braked well and were fairly attractive. Even as a 17 year old, I really liked it. A hot 403 could put this car in the 12’s on whitewalls, and no one will ever suspect.4200 is a little pricey, and yet to the right person not at all..I’d be looking at the pictures a second time at 3500.00

Very few LeSabres in 1977-79 came with the 403. Most had the 301 Pontiac engine or the 350 Buick engine, and a few had the V-6. In fact, I had forgotten or did not know the 403 was available in these. Usually, the 403 was seen in the Electra/Park Ave. of these years. This car is extremely clean under the hood, but it’s still a bit over-priced. They are very good cars, though. I owned a ’79 for 14 years and a ’77 for 3 years. Quiet, comfortable, well built, not too bad on gas, though my experience is with the 350 and the 301.
Basically, a gussied up Chevy Caprice with a Olds 403. What’s not to like. Would make a wonderful daily driver in the south, plus car cruise and show one of one on the field. Don’t like the color, change it… Can’t affect the value. Someone is going to love this.
Never understood why Buicks of the era had slanted headlight surroundings; was it to give a sportscar appearance…?
Our local PD had these equipped w/Buick’s BT1 option, the “Lawman” police package in ’77-’79. They weren’t 403’s but either Buick’s 350 or the Olds version. Never got a peak under the bonnet, just handed the officer my DL through my driver’s window. They were a class cop car. I was enamored w/’em so much that 3 years later (1980) I ordered my own for civilian use! Took delivery on my 33rd birthday. The 1980 Buick LeSabre Lawman was to be Buick’s final 350-powered squad. I’d give “my left one” to still have that sweetheart in my possession! I’m gonna’ have to dig for my window sticker but here’s the factory sales folder….
I thought the Buicks had the best dashboard layout of the big GM cars for ’77. The Olds and Caddy had ribbon speedometers that were compressed down and hard to read. I don’t remember the Chevy and Pontiac dashboards anymore.
Dad had a ’77 Electra 225 Limited sedan with the 403 and HD suspension. It was a sweet ride, and handled quite well. Quiet, roomy, powerful for the times and comfortable. I preferred it to a friend’s ’77 Coupe DeVille, which had a very different vibe.
I like it, even in that color.
