’58 Cadillac, Chevy Estate Auction! Joe Kelley Collection

Some people go far in life without knowing what makes them happy. The late Joe Kelley, a collector and restorer in New York State, knew what he liked:  1958 Cadillacs and Chevrolets! According to the auction listing here at aarbids.com, several films featured Kelley’s cars, and he enjoyed driving them in parades and charity events. This ’58 Cadillac two-door hardtop starred as a pin-up queen in the Cadillac and La Salle Club November 2014 calendar. Online bidding ends 30 October 2019. Thanks to reader Daniel Z. for suggesting this single model-year auction.

Got fins? You bet. Kelley had this pink Cadillac restored for a wedding, and there’s plenty of room in that trunk for an extended honeymoon. Bidding sits at $4500.

I’d be honored to take my last ride in this 1958 Cadillac Hearse. This high class and highly-original casket carrier appeared with Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. in the movie “Furr.” Bidding is almost dead at $1550.

You’ll probably have the only purple Pro-Street pickup on the block after buying this wicked 1958 Chevrolet truck. Highlights include ghost flames, an overbored 454 big block, TH400 automatic transmission, air conditioning, leather, and flamethrower tailpipes. Bidding has reached $14,000.

It’s easy to see the family resemblance between the ’58 Chevy and Cadillac. This authentic 1958 Chevrolet police cruiser is all business compared to its flashier Caddy cousins. While Cadillac kept fins on its ’57 models, Chevrolet abandoned fins after the iconic 1957 model year. This cruiser comes with a bundle of extra parts. The buyer might get away with robbery; bidding for this law-enforcement sedan has yet to apprehend $1000.

With its lake pipes, fender skirts, and chrome trim everywhere, this 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air four-door hardtop approaches the Cadillac’s flashy first impression. The auction includes a handful of rustier project and parts cars, automobilia, model cars, and more. Which is your favorite?

Uh, the ’59 and ’60 Chevys had some pretty awesome fins as I recall.

Thankyou; I was gonna correct him on that statement. How could anyone forget the “Batwing” fins? Even my Mom knew what a `59 Chevy was just by those! (And she drove a Chrysler).

Really cool collection and some of the last years of the really big luxury Chevrolets!! Ever since I saw the 58 Chevy in American Graffiti I’ve wanted one!! I actually like them better than the 57!!!

Will; if you go to the bottom of the auction site you’ll find plenty of model cars from ’23 Chevy hearse to ’64 Impala. There’s a Tucker there too!

I fully understand this guy’s love for ’58 Chevys and Caddys however he seems to have missed out on the best of the pack; the Pontiac. IMHO these three divisional siblings are somehow visually similar and represent the very best of car design for the 1958 model year

It is a side service combination car. You don’t see very many of those anymore.
