With only 61,000 genuine and documented miles on the clock, this 1986 Chevrolet C-10 should have plenty of life left in it. The owner has discovered that there really isn’t room inside for his growing family, so has elected to place the pickup on the market. It is located in Miami, Florida, and is listed for sale here on eBay. The bidding for the C-10 has been set to open at $5,300.
If I was going to sum up the condition of the C-10 in one word, then it would probably be honest. The presentation looks quite good, but the owner has made no effort to hide any potential flaws or problems. There are a few marks and dings on the body, but rust seems to be confined to some spots in the bed just behind the rear wheels. I give the owner a big thumbs-up for fitting a bed-liner, as these do a fantastic job of protecting the bed from all of the usual scrapes and damage that can be inflicted in that area.
Once again, the interior is honest, with a few obvious flaws. The dash pad has multiple cracks, while there are a couple of seam separations on the driver’s side of the seat. I’ve been trying to work out whether the carpet is original, as it looks a bit too “orange” to match the rest of the interior trim. What you get inside the C-10 is good, basic motoring. Luxury features are confined to air conditioning and a radio/cassette player. The overall impression then, is pretty good, and certainly serviceable.
With a 305ci V8 and a TH-350 transmission, the C-10 should possess enough power to carry most of the loads, either in the bed or hooked to the hitch, that you’re ever likely to experience. Power steering and power brakes will also minimize the human effort in these endeavors. The owner possesses a substantial amount of documentation that will be included in the sale. This includes owners manuals, a Carfax Report, and a comprehensive collection of receipts for repair and maintenance work. The owner also states that the C-10 runs and drives perfectly, with no squeaks or creaks. You will also find a video clip at the bottom of the story which provides a bit of a walk-around of the vehicle, and also features it running and driving.
It’s a reality that the popularity of pickups is continuing to grow, both in the new car market and in the classics scene. The American public has embraced them, and I don’t think that this is something that is going to change anytime soon. This one isn’t perfect, but it looks like it’s a good all-rounder that you wouldn’t be ashamed of if you were seen in it. What do you think?
Barn Finds shop truck?
Must be the 700R4 was optional in ’86.
So let me ask you guys a question, more curious than anything.
My 1983 C10 Shorty, Crate 350, loaded, 68k Original Mile, southern truck, no rust ever, one repaint years ago, runs very smooth.
Bench, cruise, AC, Tilt, power, etc…..
Runs great, still has the paint on the frame from new, never spray bombed underneath, just a clean excellent running truck. I bought it as Carlisle five years ago and have been enjoying it, not looking to sell it but interested in the groups thoughts on price. Some of the prices on these seems to be higher than I expected but you never know right….
This is what is called a real sweetheart of a truck. I’d give 5 grand for it and have a dead reliable half ton for years to come.
Just to note, not an ’86 grill, grill in the pic is ’82-’83.
