Ford released the SVT Cobra in 1992 at the Chicago Auto Show. The cars were highly upgraded versions of their base model Mustangs. They were smoother, faster, and arguably cooler. The example is said to have 97,525 miles and is listed for auction here on eBay. The bidding ends Monday, January 6th.
The exterior is finished in black. The car appears to wear 17-inch wheels wrapped in new tires. The vehicle is boxy and relatively petite. Its styling reflects its purpose: to offer a fun driving experience. New Nos Ford Calite quarter windows have been installed, and the car received paint correction with ceramic coating.
The interior is finished in gray throughout, with a black steering wheel. Cobra floor mats are placed on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides. The interior presents very well and appears free of blemishes, cracks, or creases. It is a ’90s time capsule that offers luxury elements. It is comfortable, allowing the driver to take long (and exciting) drives free of discomfort.
A 4.9 L “5.0” V8 engine sends 235 horsepower to the wheels via a manual transmission. These cars are said to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds, an impressive feat for the time. This example is said to be free of oil leaks, has working air conditioning, and has new brakes. The engine is a recently built factory engine with all-new seals and gaskets. The Ford kit transmission was also recently built. A Flow Master exhaust is installed. This is a beautifully maintained example of a cult favorite. These cars were very desirable when released and have maintained adoration from the enthusiasts. This is a classic that needs little to no work and should be a worry-free purchase. If you are interested in adding this 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra to your collection, bid on eBay before the auction ends Monday.
This would look nice beside Bob’s black Taurus SHO stick shift. 🏁
…. you are right Stan, only one minor problem: as you know, the SHO is long gone.
As for this Cobra, it wasn’t long ago that one with nearly 100k miles, even in good shape like this one, would have been under $20k. Look at what it has already been bid to, after 60 bids. Clearly the market recognizes them as a (the?) peak Fox Body.
Rebuilt motor, and sounds like the trans got attention too. I love these, black ones. Not as flashy as the others. All the goodies from the Ford parts bin inside and out were dialed into these models. Comfortable and quick. What a fine send off to the era Bob.
Currently at $31,600. Pre Covid 27-30k bought a low mileage example. This one is definitely peak fox body.
