BF AUCTION: 1971 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

Bid to: $1,850View Result

Reader John O’s father bought this Eldorado Convertible to fix up. He got some work done to it but never had the time to finish it. As you can see, it’s going to need the front end put back together, but the bumper is included. It’s still parked in the barn (with the other cars we are auctioning) and needs to go! You can find this drop-top in Fort Wayne, Indiana and you can bid on it below.

The interior is dirty but complete. The seats appear to be in decent shape, with no signs of tears or damage, which is quite surprising for a convertible! The odometer is showing just 41k miles, but there’s no documentation to prove whether that’s accurate or not. Given how long it’s been parked, it’s entirely possible that it is accurate, but again there’s no way to know for sure. Plan on replacing all the consumables and the steering wheel.

The massive 500 cui V8 is in unknown condition, so assume the worst and hope for the best. This really is an incredible amount of engine to be powering the front wheels, but that’s part of what makes these Eldorados so cool. It’s rated at 365 horsepower and 535 ft. lbs of torque, but you’re going to need every bit of that power to move this big luxury convertible!

It’s hard to say what all it’s going to take to get this Caddy back on the road, but if you are into luxury land yachting, it is well worth a look! Obviously, it’s going to need a lot of work, but it’s complete and could be an interesting project to tackle. Leave any questions for John in the comments below and if you’d like to see any specific areas, let him know and he will snap more photos!

The humidity in that garage must have been like clouds of wet fog rolling in for years. See the rust in the engine compartment. Yuk. The owner destroyed these cars with this condition.

@Duaney – There’s rust, but obviously a few people see some value here. John, the seller, isn’t trying to hide anything. He is just trying to find new homes for his dad’s old cars.
