Affordable Fins: 1960 Cadillac De Ville

Reasonable condition Cadillac’s always grab my attention and this ’60 De Ville is a very promising car for not a lot of money. Needing some interior attention, and what appears to be minor repair to floors, this Deville could be a cheap entry way into the Caddy of your dreams. Offered for the buy it now price of $4,950.00, this De Ville is certainly worth a look. Check it out here on eBay out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Thanks to reader Ikey Heyman for this sweet submission!

With some fresh fuel and a new fuel pump this 390 V8 was brought back to life, and is now a runner. Described as sitting for many years, I am guessing that the brake system is shot, as there is a tow strap attached to the rear of the car in the photos. With some time, parts, and tinkering, this Caddy could likely be a driver again without too much fuss.

The hard to swallow pill about this De Ville is the interior. Once you got the ugly seats out of the way, it would be less of an eye sore. The dash has some cracks, but is in fair enough condition. The steering wheel also shows a few cracks, but again, fair enough. Also if you look closely you can see a hole in the driver floor area. Thankfully this rusty area is small and looks to be easily contained and dealt with.

Even with the weathered paint, this Cadillac is a pure joy to gaze upon. There looks to be little in the way of rust, and it would seem that only a few pieces of exterior trim is missing. As a whole, the body looks awesome. I could easily see someone enjoying the exterior as is, or this would be a great car to restore as the body would need little work. With a reasonable price tag, and a whole lot of car, would you jump on this De Ville project?

Not a bad looking car, it just screams Cadillac! Seems to be all there except for some trim bits. Bumpers look pretty good as does the glass. The paint looks like it was clear-coated? So it was painted at some point in the past? Or is that what happens to lacquer over time? Price seems reasonable given what total basket cases are being asked for these days.

I bought a ’60 four door Seville, in white, (though in much better condition) in the early 1980s for $400. Not a bad car, it ran pretty well and even then a car not often seen. Hard on fuel but I liked it because it was different from other cars I had up to that point. Pretty sure I sold it for what I paid for it after a short time. I’d like to see this land barge restored to original, it would be a real beauty.

Four window sedans are much harder to find than the 6 window variation.

Yes somebody should restore this car and cruise it.

To have the dash redone is $1500+. Best to do some research before jumping in. Bumpers are expensive to re-chrome, but these may do for a basic driver. A buddy of mind paid $16K for a very nice Fleetwood last year. But you have to real search for a good buy.

Colo is easy on sheet metal. Fix that mouse hole in the floor, throw a Mexican blanket over the seat and cruise. Finally something a person on a budget can get into!!

Good luck to the new owner!!

Sadly, sold already. They should give BarnFinds a commission!
