AMX/Javelin Find: 2 Projects + 13 Cars Worth Of Spares!

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

Naturally, we have frequent Barn Finds contributor AMXBrian to thank for this find! Located in Plainfield, Connecticut these two cars and a huge hoard of parts are all going for one price: $6,000. You can find the ad here on craigslist to see some more pictures and inquire if you want to look over the cars and parts in person.

The seller tells us the two rollers are both 1970 model cars; one AMX and one Javelin. They describe them thus: Either one could be fixed up using the parts included. They don’t appear too far gone but it’ll be work. Trans tunnel and rear quarters are bad. Neither one run, though the Javelin was driven into that spot 20 years ago, still retains complete engine and transmission.

This is the engine of the 1970 Javelin — I think I would have mentioned the air conditioning as well!

There are all kinds of spares shown in the pictures! Just look how many pieces of trim there are in this shot. Apparently the seller’s father used to sell AMX and Javelin parts and this is the remainders of his parts stash.

Clocks, anyone? If you are into this kind of car and have the time (see what I did there?) to sort through and list the spares individually for sale, I’m guessing you could clear a decent profit even at the asking price. However, only you can decide how much your time is worth. As far as the cars go — let’s hear from our AMC fans out there as to whether or not you think they are worth restoring. Make sure you comment below!

If this was a bit closer, I would have to check it out. Seems like a good deal for all that is included. But I would hate to have to pack up all those parts in trailers for a repeated trips over a long distance.

The seller seams reasonable, and honest too. He mentions in the ad an additional “Mark Donahue Javelin” that’s restored, but not running. Now THAT makes me scratch my head, but would love to see that car as well.
Nice AMC find, at logical pricing

“Restored, but not running.” What’s the point of restoring a car if it doesn’t run?? And for $15,000, I’m sure you could find a decent runner somewhere out there.

Wow, that is a seriously good price. The chrome trim, the grille, the glass…those are all hard to find parts. All of the parts look to be in pretty good shape.

And the Donohue car, if in good nick, is also priced well. This is an AMC fan’s dream. Wish it was closer.

fwiw, a restored, running genuine Donohue car is about 40K to 50K on the auction block. This is very cheap muscle and very rare IF it’s the real deal.

The seller doesn’t list many details – maybe he wants to avoid a lot of unnecessary emails or maybe he just knows nothing about the car – but if this is a genuine Donohue car, restored and not running but with numbers matching chassis and drivetrain, it’s WAY worth the price…pending of course some communication with the seller to answer some key questions.

There is no such thing as a “Numbers Matching” AMC

The Mark Donahue Javlin even non running is worth 15,000 if otherwise restored. Great find hope some AMC. fan buys it all I doubt there are many real Mark Donaue Javlins left AMC is not know for keeping good records

Is that a SC/Rambler hood scoop above the Javelin grill in picture 7 of the Craig’s List ad?

I don’t think it is. The sc/rambler scoop looked like a couple fedex boxes stuck together. One big curved up snout.

But that Torker manifold and Holley double pumper are shweet!

I’m about 30 mins from there. If anyone needs some temporary storage they are welcome to use my place, I have a three car garage that is empty to store whatever fits.
