This code 75 red Pontiac Formula is the first year for the new front end for the 2nd generation Firebird. This car is located in Phoenix, Arizona and the paint shows some sun fading. The Formula is listed here on Facebook Marketplace for $21,000 which seems a little steep for the condition. The seller states that the car has 86,000 miles and only two owners. Out of the 211,453 Firebirds built in 1979, Pontiac produced 24,850 Formulas. While the Trans Am gets all the attention, the Formula could be optioned with the same performance options.
In 1979, the base engine for the Formula was a 301 cubic inch V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor, producing 140 horsepower. The next step up was the optional 301 V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, rated at 150 horsepower. In California, the base was a Chevrolet 305 V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor, generating 133 horsepower. The high-altitude option was the LM1 350 V8, rated at 160 horsepower. The L80 Oldsmobile 403 V8 with automatic transmission produced 185 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The top engine choice was the L78 W72 400 V8, only available with a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission, 3.23 rear gears, WS6 suspension, and dual turbo mufflers, installed in just 367 Formulas.
The red deluxe interior features hobnail cloth on the seats, which appear to be in fair condition with no visible rips or tears. In 1979, upgrading to the deluxe interior included upgraded seats and door panels. This vehicle does not have power windows but does have air conditioning. The cars does not have T-tops or tilt steering. The black seat belts appear to be incorrect or added later. From mid 1978, the seat belts and steering column were color coded. The seller provides additional pictures mostly of the exterior and some of the areas that need attention on this car.
The Formula rides on the standard 15×7 Rally II wheels and has the optional rear spoiler. The car rides on aftermarket Cooper Cobra tires which many enthusiast believe ride smoother than BF Goodrich Radial TAs. There is a dent in the front driver fender and the car is said to have a new AC system. So, do you think this car will sell for the $21,000 asking price?

If I were to say there was anything I didn’t prefer on this car would be the color keyed steering wheel and column. Black would have broken up all that red. Interior looks like a crime scene.
which engine does it have? The Facebook ad just says “Stock”
Top dollar for a car that isn’t top notch.
On top of that, the seller provides no real meaningful details. Try harder people.
Again crack pipe $ for a car needing restoration
