About Pete McCorkle

I'm a school administrator in upstate New York with a lifelong interest in cars, trucks, bikes, you name it. As a kid, my dad took me along with him car shopping at least once a month. He never bought a damn thing. I can't complain too much however as he did pay for my Car & Driver subscription. He drove his 1965 Buick Skylark and 1974 Hornet Sportabout wagon into the 1980's until my mother finally insisted on replacements. I've not suffered from the same car buying apathy. I enjoy having a reliable car or two around for family use as well as something quirky to drive around town and do my best to keep on the road. Over the past few years those cars have included a really fun 87 Audi 5000 TQ that finally just got to be too much to keep running, a 92 Volvo 960 wagon that put up with huge amounts of abuse from my oldest son and was still going strong when donated to public radio, and most recently a 96 RWD Jeep Cherokee.

Brazilian Import: 1988 Volkswagen Fox

This Fox, located in Great Barrington, MA is in surprisingly good condition for a 1980’s northeastern VW. Turns out it spent most of its life housed in a garage in Atlanta. That explains the rust free exterior and shiny… more»
