Behind The Barn Find! 1970 Camaro Z28 RS

Here’s a very original 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS that’s just waiting for someone to sympathetically restore her–or I guess you could drive it as is! Ok, not quite as is, but you know what I mean. It’s available here on eBay and is located in East Aurora, New York. Thanks to our own Jesse for this great find!

The seller calls this a “behind the barn find,” and I believe it considering the exterior appearance. However, considering that this appears to be original paint, at least you know exactly where you stand–no hidden issues!

The seller talks about having to replace both floors, fenders, and shows plenty of holes in the trunk floor. I know that seems like a lot, but all kinds of reproduction parts are available, so it certainly can be done. The seller does state that the frame channels are good, and mentions that Florida cars tend to rust from the top down. I’ve seen both cases in Florida, to be honest.

Here’s the interior, which while being all original basically is a pattern for it’s replacement.

Engine wise, while it’s all there I’m sure it will need a lot of work too. Unfortunately, the seller doesn’t tell us anything about it’s condition apart that it’s the original one. I’d really want to know more before bidding!

As usual, I’m just flabbergasted that something like this is at $7,900 already. Shows how out of the loop I really am. Never cared for this style Camaro ( apparently someone does) Very popular, and most rusted terribly in the mid-west ( this would have been a good one) I knew people that had these where the doors literally fell off. Seems like a lot of work here, and again, a lot of money for something someone dragged out of a field with a tractor. I suppose, I’d have done the same thing. Like I’ve said before, years ago, this would be a bona fide parts car, but now, I bet someone restores it. Unbelievable.

Are you running a build story anywhere?

They restored one of these on a TV show. Went for big bucks at auction.

…at least that’s the story line they would like us to believe. Reality car shows are anything but.
