This 1955 Ford Crown Victoria is more than a pretty face. Scrolling through the image gallery confirms that this classic is rock-solid. The engine bay houses a V8, and the interior is extremely tidy. This beauty is in excellent mechanical condition, and the current owner will entertain test drives for enthusiasts who are serious about parking this beautiful Ford in their garage. A new home is beckoning as the owner has chosen to list the Crown Victoria exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

Ford introduced a dramatically restyled new model for the 1955 model year, with the Fairlane marketed as the top trim level. The Crown Victoria Coupe added further luxury touches for those wishing to indulge in a special motoring experience. This ’55 Crown Victoria presents impressively. Ford offered Crown Vic buyers a choice of seven “Style Tone” two-tone paint combinations, with this car wearing Torch Red and Snowshoe White. The owner believes the car underwent a few minor repairs and was repainted approximately twenty years ago. The lack of deterioration or emerging problems confirms that the shop focused on a high-quality result. The paint shines nicely, the panels are as straight as an arrow, and there is no evidence of exterior rust or problems with the floors or frame. Bright trim was a feature that manufacturers eagerly embraced during this period, helping their high-end models stand out, and this Ford has plenty of it in exceptional condition. The damage-prone wheelcovers are excellent, and the glass is crystal clear.

Ford pensioned off the venerable flathead V8 in 1954, replacing it with the Y-Block. This Crown Victoria features the 272ci version, which produces an official 162hp and 258 ft/lbs of torque. The first owner obviously wasn’t afraid to splash their cash when ordering this Ford, outlaying an additional $109.70 for the three-speed manual transmission with Overdrive. The Y-Block is a legendary motor, and its low-end torque delivery made it incredibly flexible. Rowing the shifter was rarely necessary because the V8 would pull strongly in high gears from a low speed without complaint. The owner states that this Crown Victoria runs and drives beautifully. The engine is as smooth as silk, with no smoke or odd noises. He says that the whitewall tires show age deterioration, but it seems this classic has no other needs or shortcomings.

As with the exterior, Ford offered ’55 Crown Victoria buyers a choice of interior trim combinations. They consisted of three that were all vinyl and two in which the company paired vinyl with cloth. This car features Red quilted and White vinyl that presents nicely for its age. The owner believes a previous custodian may have treated it to a retrim, which may have coincided with the exterior refresh. There is no appreciable upholstery wear, while the Black carpet, dash, and painted surfaces are excellent. The interior features aftermarket air conditioning that doesn’t blow cold, but the push-button radio and clock reflect the Crown Victoria’s luxury leanings. Potential buyers can consider this Ford’s interior consistent with that of a cherished survivor-grade classic, with no apparent needs.

Although Ford achieved major sales success with its 1955 Fairlane range, only 33,165 buyers chose the Crown Victoria. Only the “Transparent Top” variant is rarer, and natural attrition means many of these cars ended up in the scrapyard years ago. This Crown Victoria has avoided that fate, and it has done so admirably. It is ideal for enthusiasts seeking a classic Ford from the glory days of the 1950s that they can drive and enjoy immediately. Why don’t you scroll through the image gallery? It will help you to understand why submitting a bid is worthwhile.

Absolutely beautiful car. I love all the chrome and true two tones of the past. Still to this day I buy my SD pickups with the two tone option. Dark rocker panels and wheel moldings of which I do not consider a true two tone.
When I see a car like this I am always blown away by the long term care taken. My daily drivers are never taken care of the way my toys are. I take good care of them maintenance wise, but they have always been tools to me.

You can’t beat the look of a Crown Vic! And this one looks fantastic. Wish I lived closer, and had the wherewithal to get into a bidding war. Alas…

Had this exact car in the early 1960s! One of my all time favorites. Wish I lived closer, would be all over this one!

When I was a kid, an older lady named Katie Archer came to my Mother’s hair salon in Palmyra MO on a regular basis in a ’55 Crown Vic with the green glass top. I was just discovering cars at age 10, and I was totally in awe of that car!

I saw one just like this with the clear top in North Fort Myers, FL. a few years ago, Same color and it was a 55. The only Crown Vic glass top I have seen.

My dad had one that looked just like this. Can’t remember the details, though, as I was born in 1955.

55 was last year for 6 volt Ford’s but this may be 8v judging from cap position. Can’t see a fourth cap though.

Brings back some memories for sure. My Uncle James got one in this same color in the early 60’s. I rode in it once that I remember, was about 8 at the time. He wrecked it in the front and pushed it into the backyard garage at his house in Dallas with plans to repair. He gave up on it and gave it to his brother to make a dirt track racer out of it in 1967. They painted it British racing green and put #13 on the door. I was 10 at that time and thought it was such a shame. His had the Fordomatic transmission

This is a peach of a car to be sure, I always liked 55-56 FoMoCo’s. Though I prefer the “plain” Victoria without the crown, I sure wouldn’t kick this out of my garage! Side note about the 272/292/312 Y-block engines..when these were common many people put dual glass packs on them. Talk about a sweet-sounding engine!

Does the car have power steering and power brakes?

From what we can see with the engine photo, looks like no brake booster, can’t tell if power steering, wrong angle.
