One of the challenges with a project build is knowing where to start. However, life might be easier with this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette. It runs and drives, and the owner includes a range of new parts to give the winning bidder a starting point. The buyer could contemplate a faithful restoration or use the existing modifications to produce a genuinely jaw-dropping classic. The time has come for the Corvette to head to fresher pastures, with the owner listing it exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

The buying public eagerly embraced the C3 Corvette upon its 1968 release, but with a record sales tally of 38,462 cars in 1969, the C3 cemented its place in the sports car market. This Coupe rolled off the line that year, and much has changed since that day. The existing Dark Blue Metallic paint isn’t original, as the first owner ordered the car in Riverside Gold. I suspect that the color change occurred when a previous owner added the enormous fender flares to cover the spotless slotted aluminum alloy wheels. Combine those features, and the already aggressive Corvette carries a touch of menace. It leaves the buyer with a few choices to consider, but since the exterior has multiple coats of paint, they will likely strip some of them to achieve a high-end result. The body is in good condition, with tight, consistent gaps. Included in the deal is a set of freshly rechromed bumpers and an L88 hood, for those wishing to accentuate the car’s appearance. The T-Top and removable rear window are in good condition, and while the headlights raise okay, they must be manually lowered. However, addressing that shortcoming should be pretty easy.

The first owner focused on performance when ordering this Corvette. They ticked the boxes on their Order Form beside the L46 version of the 350ci V8, a four-speed manual transmission, power steering, and power brakes. The small-block would have produced a factory-quoted 350hp and 380 ft/lbs of torque in its prime, making this Corvette a formidable weapon. The car retains its original transmission, but the engine is a 400ci small-block. It isn’t a high-performance motor, but since it runs well, the winning bidder could leave it unchanged while they contemplate whether they need more power. This beauty runs and drives, but the owner removed the brake calipers for a rebuild. Once again, the deal includes a significant selection of new parts. The winning bidder receives new calipers, pads, soft brake lines, trailing arm hard lines, clips, and a master cylinder. There are also new front and rear sway bars and hardware, adjustable camber rods, KYB gas shocks, brake backing plates, an idler arm, tie rod ends, tie rod adjusters, upper and lower front ball joints, front bearings and seals, trailing arm bolts, and shims. That list should ensure that the Corvette drives like a dream when the winning bidder points it at the open road.

Considering the exterior changes, it is unsurprising that this Corvette’s interior is no longer trimmed in Saddle vinyl. It is essentially a blank canvas, and how the buyer approaches its refresh will depend on the paint color they ultimately apply to the exterior. It needs love, but the foundations are there to achieve a top result with a bit of effort. The seller includes a complete console and a few other interior pieces in the deal, which the buyer will undoubtedly welcome. The car left the line equipped with air conditioning and power windows, proving the first owner didn’t focus exclusively on outright performance.

This image provides an understanding of the scope of the included parts collection. Even one extra item is typically welcomed by enthusiasts working on a project build. However, this array cost the seller more than $4,000, and the buyer is set to benefit from this significant investment. As you can see, while I have listed many of the parts throughout this article, there are parts that I haven’t mentioned.

This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette won’t appeal to everyone, but there’s never been a classic that has. Some people would consider a faithful restoration the most appropriate approach, while others would find the muscular additions the ideal starting point to creating something that will automatically draw crowds. Chrome bumper C3 Corvettes have been a classic market star performer for decades, and regardless of which approach the winning bidder takes, this classic could still be an excellent long-term investment. However, the ownership experience is about more than mere dollars and cents. So, if a Corvette has been on your Wish List, this 1969 model could make that dream a reality.
