UPDATE – The seller has added a walk-around and start-up video!

Although it wasn’t a hit upon its release, Ford’s First Generation Bronco has become a strong performer in the classic market. It is easy to understand, because it ticks the right boxes for desirability. The production total was low, buyers could specify a V8 under the hood, and it tackled its designed role comfortably. This 1973 Bronco is anything but ordinary following a recent refurbishment. Its presentation is stunning, and nothing short of Mount Everest will stop it in its tracks. The time has come for the Bronco to find a new home, with the owner listing it exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

Ford sold 21,894 examples of the Bronco in 1973, marking one of the most successful years in First Generation production. Many have since succumbed to rust or abuse, but this one is simply stunning. The owner handed the vehicle to renowned specialist Randy Roberts of Muscle Car Restoration, who banished any rust to the pages of history. After massaging the panels to a laser-straight state and powdercoating the frame for protection and spotless presentation, the exterior received a coat of dazzling Turquoise. The results justified the effort and expense because there is nothing to criticize about the Bronco’s condition. This is unsurprising because the vehicle has only covered around 564 miles since the work ended. The trim and glass are new, and the LED headlights will turn night into day. A subtle fender flare kit covers the enormous 15″ American Racing wheels and their 33″ BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires, while the heavy-duty powdercoated bumpers and matching rollcage offer excellent protection should things go wrong.

The owner emphasizes that while this Bronco’s bodyshell is essentially original, things are different below the surface. This classic features a 302ci V8, a three-speed C4 automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, power steering, and power brakes. The V8 features headers and a new Holley carburetor to improve breathing and overall performance, guaranteeing that it produces more than the factory-quoted 137hp it developed when new. The refurbishment included a 2½” lift to improve the Bronco’s already impressive off-road capabilities. Add a new wiring harness, a fuel tank, a new radiator, stainless steel brake lines, adjustable trac bars, and locking front hubs to the equation, and it is easy to believe that this was a money-is-no-object build. Potential buyers can consider this Bronco a turnkey proposition, ready for a life of adventure.

The interior received as much TLC as the rest of the vehicle, and with the optional rear seat, it can take the entire family deep into the wilderness. The seats feature Parchment vinyl, matched by the door trims. It contrasts beautifully with the Turquoise-painted surfaces, while the floors sport practical, hard-wearing Black rubber mats. A tilt wheel will improve the driver’s comfort, and the retro-style stereo perfectly matches the factory radio’s appearance. There is no visible wear, and using the word “perfect” to describe the presentation wouldn’t be a stretch.

This 1973 Ford Bronco isn’t a faithfully restored classic, but I am sure that most Barn Finds readers will believe that the changes made during the build are all positive. They not only improve occupant comfort, but suggest that it would take something pretty extraordinary to stop this classic in its tracks. If you have considered restoring a First Generation Bronco but find the prospect overwhelming, this beast is an excellent alternative that will provide instant motoring gratification. I guarantee that the further you scroll through the image gallery, the more you will find to like about this stunning vehicle. By the time you’re finished, you may consider bidding a no-brainer. I will understand if you do.

Actually, first year Bronco production exceeded Ford’s expectations at nearly 24k built. Production of the body tubs was subbed out to Budd, because they couldn’t keep up, due to the larger than expected Mustang sales.
Also, only 6 cylinder engines with 3 speed manuals were available until March, when V8s with 3 speeds first came available.

Nobody’s going out in the wilderness with a white interior. Probably won’t even see wet roads.

Wow, exactly what I was thinking as soon as I saw those WHITE seats. I’d have to take a shower and put clean clothes on! Otherwise very nice truck that I would never buy, even if I could afford. I do like that the radio opening was not butchered, just the appropriate upgraded one here. A few weeks ago, I made a radio adaptor plate for the butchered dash on my 66 F-100. It now has an original AM working radio, same as what would have come with this Bronco.

Is it a personal attack if commenting about white seats in a Bronco? Maybe. The posts disappeared, not only mine.

Yeah, it was mine. How is a comment about white seats in a 4×4 “offensive”?

for me a lill over built (I C the duff’n bailey built components, split transfer, etc) as I prefer ‘sleeper mods’ & more oem. W/the paint (50s fashion) I’d cont the theme w/frost white as the 2nd base (not wimbolton) a la mid 50s tri5 & crown vic, fairlane, monterey, edsel pacer…BUT…

This probably fits the higher spenders, lower bronk knowledge (or care, “Just wanna show it to my buddies”). I get left out of “car culture’ a good bit (example – I’d not call this a truck) and is ok wid me~

Thnx for pic, write up, listing…
