Some project builds take on a life of their own. Enthusiasts will invest years of their precious time and countless thousands of dollars in their quest for perfection. Such is the case with this 1975 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Stepside. It is a show-quality Pickup featuring a long list of custom touches that have been the work of the current and previous owners. It drives better than it did when it was new, and its next journey could be to a new home. The current owner feels that the time is right to part with their cherished classic, listing it exclusively with us at Barn Finds Auctions.

It is difficult to know where to start with this C10, but a small slice of history seems the appropriate place. The previous owner commenced the build, spending a decade on this classic before it passed to its current owner. He and his son continued to lavish this Pickup with TLC, and some of the custom touches are so beautifully integrated that they almost escape detection. The rear fenders have been widened by 2″ and now feature Cadillac taillights. The front bumper has given way to a unique and subtle grille, and the vehicle features shaved door handles for a smoother appearance. Accessing this Pickup’s interior is straightforward, courtesy of the remote door releases with an in-built safety function. With the exterior stripped to bare metal and the steel massaged to perfection, the exterior and interior steel surfaces received a dazzling coat of Cranberry Red paint. The presentation is exceptional, with the paint holding a beautiful shine, and the underside shots confirming that the floors and frame are equally clean. There is no rust to sour the winning bidder’s ownership experience, and the bed features new timber with a hinged flap providing access to the under-floor fuel cell. All seals were replaced during the build, and the C10 rides on a set of aluminum wheels.

The beauty of this C10 is more than skin-deep, reflecting a “total” approach to this build. The Pickup derives its power from Chevrolet’s iconic 350ci V8, which sends its ponies to the rear wheels via a rebuilt TH350 automatic transmission. Unsurprisingly, this Chevy also features power-assisted steering and brakes. Like the rest of the vehicle, the small-block has received considerable attention to maximize its performance potential. A rebuild included adding a mildly upgraded camshaft, modified stock cylinder heads, an improved aluminum intake, a Holley 700cfm Double Pumper carburetor, and high-performance headers. A new three-core radiator, water pump, and fan keep temperatures under control, while a Mallory ignition and an MSD control box provide a nice, fat spark. The suspension features drop spindles, special front A-arms, and stabilizer bars at both ends. The owner C-notched the rear axle for improved ride, and the suspension can be lowered further for a truly ground-hugging look. Other new parts include the steel brake lines, master cylinder, booster, shocks, valve covers, plugs, plug wires, and a rebuilt starter. The result of this hard graft justified the effort, with the owner stating that this Pickup runs and drives significantly better than it would have in 1975. Flying in and driving home is a realistic option for the winning bidder.

Although the dash and door trims are original, this C10’s interior still features plenty of custom touches. The seat, headliner, and other upholstered surfaces feature rich Burgundy velour trim, the floors are cloaked in Red carpet, and the thick sports wheel sits atop a tilt column. The velour is free from wear, the carpet is extremely tidy, and the dash and pad are in excellent condition. The current owner installed sound deadener below the carpet, helping to isolate the interior from road noise that can cause fatigue on long journeys. The factory cruise control further helps as the miles roll effortlessly under this Pickup’s tires. There are no obvious cosmetic shortcomings, although the buyer will need to address some functional tasks. The CD stereo isn’t currently wired, and the fuel gauge needs to be adapted to the custom tank. The backup lights and horn both require attention, as both are inoperative. However, none of these jobs should pose a challenge and could be tackled as time and circumstances allow.

It is a reality that tackling a project build is not a viable option for some enthusiasts. Some may waver at the prospect of purchasing a turnkey classic, feeling that doing so will signify that they are less of an enthusiast than someone who spends years in their workshop, creating the vehicle of their dreams. Nothing could be further from the truth. Your worth as an enthusiast is measured by the passion in your heart, and not necessarily by the grease under your fingernails. Therefore, if a classic Pickup has been on your Wish List but the prospect of a project build isn’t an option, this 1975 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Stepside could be the ideal solution. The winning bidder can enjoy all that it offers immediately, and people will instantly recognize that they are a passionate enthusiast. Why not scroll through the image gallery? That will provide insight into why bidding on this C10 makes total sense.

Amazing truck! So nice to see some old school custom touches on this. I especially like the caddy lights in the rear. Super cool C10. Love it.

Very nice truck, The only thing I might have opted for was black velour for the seats to match the rest of the inside pieces. Notice the 100 mph speedometer. 85 mph units weren’t required in trucks that year, but it was the first year for mandated unleaded fuel only along with the 85 mph clock, for cars.

DEJA VU! I purchased a 75 GMC new almost exactly like this Chevy. Same color, same equipment for only $4050.

Isn’t this just the sweetest thing? Someone took great care with good vision and came up with a truck that’s just reet. (For those who remember that term) . Nice small block, automatic and tilt column with a cloth seat will make an ideal cruiser. No air because that’s how we bought ’em back then. I would have preferred the correct door cards but they weren’t offered in black those years and would have likely had a wood grained applique. Just change out those silly window winders back to original.

This truck looks like something you would see at a Barrett. Jackson or something. maybe just not the audience here for it.
