This find must have taken up the entire barn it was parked in! At 22 feet long, it’s certainly not the longest RV you could have bought in 1987, but we wouldn’t call it small. It was pulled out of storage about 3 years ago and the seller got it back on the road about 7 months ago. Prior to their ownership, it had been parked indoors for a number of years and needed some work to be ready to use. They’ve enjoyed it, but the time has come to let someone new hit the open road in it. So, they’ve decided to offer it here as a Barn Finds Auction. It’s located in Stockton, California, and is showing 16,232 miles.

Winnebago had quite the lineup in the late ’80s. They were offering everything from the tiny Toyota-based Minnie Winnie up to massive Class A motorhomes. This one lands somewhere in between, with an easier-to-manage length but the comfortable-to-stand-in height of the larger motorhomes. It’s a nice balance with all the amenities you really need without being unruly to drive.

Having covered just 16k miles, this one clearly spent most of its life parked. Getting its 7.4-liter Chevrolet V8 running didn’t take much work and is said to be in good running order. The only issue the seller notes is that the dash-mounted A/C system isn’t blowing cold. The system has already been converted to R134a, so getting it working properly shouldn’t take much work.

A look inside, we find a clean yet original interior. The plush driver’s seat looks welcoming and ready for those long journeys. The dash is as ’80s as you might expect, but presently well. Other than a few water stains on the wooden center console, we don’t see any issues here.

As we move back through the interior, we find a kitchen, dining area, bathroom, and a bedroom. It’s not overly spacious, but there’s plenty of storage and room for a family road trip. The seller installed a new toilet and shower head. The rest of the interior appears to be original and in ready-to-use condition.

The seller also installed six new tires when they purchased it, and while they are now three years old, they appear to be in good condition. They also replaced the rooftop A/C unit, so that you stay comfortable while parked.

This looks like it could be a fun RV to have. While we would love to see it with the correct body graphics, it’s a unique-looking rig and would be fun to travel in. It’s 454 won’t be easy on fuel, but it also isn’t going to require you to take out a second mortgage on your house to buy. So, if you’ve been looking for a smaller motorhome to travel the country in, this one is definitely worth a look! Be sure to cast your high bids below and leave any questions you have for the seller in the comment section.

It seems to be in really nice shape for it’s age. I wonder if that’s a bunk above the driver/passenger seats. The carpet in the bathroom would definitely have to go, however. GLWTA!

Where’s Howard! One more chance! You could live in the Walmart parking lot and be a greeter for them!

Walmarts here no longer allow RVs in their parking lots. The last one blew sky high because the users, who were also sky high, blew it up while cooking meth. It, and its users, are still in orbit.

Trouble is, the buyer may have to spend time in Walmart parking lots as many campgrounds wont allow anything that is this old! Looks like it’s well sorted though!

As with any RV. And particularly one of this age. NEVER, NEVER EVER buy one of these without inspecting the roof! They are often damaged by tree branches and other lower than your vehicle things. PLUS! Most of these type construction RVs (motorhome or trailers) have a soft (as in vinyl) roof covering that can easily be damaged, shrink with age or just plain give up. AND it is not cheap to repair. I’m not saying this coach has this issue but the age requires an inspection. I have a 2000 28′ foot high quality 5th wheel that lived in north central CA before I bought it. And it needed a new roof in 2021. (Just because of age) A good friend’s daughter bought a used camp trailer that looked like it had been parked in a garage and never used. (Virtually looked brand new) It looked like it had received a puncture in the corner of the roof when new. You could not see it from the ground. But by climbing up on a ladder you could see the sizeable hole that was perfectly placed to let in mother nature and all her critters right between the walls where no one would be the wiser until the right rear corner rotted off. Which would only take a couple of hard bumps by my estimation after peering down the hole with a flash light. The selling owner claimed to be unaware of the problem as it is likely that they were telling the truth. Lucky for her they gave her her money back.

The headliner above drver/passenger seats looks funny, saggy, discolored. ???

aka. Leaks. Which are the bane of any older RV because leaks mean rot and mold.

Unfortunately I didn’t take a pic of the roof but I will do that today, the roof is one huge sheet of aluminum with no signs damage anywhere along the entire roof line. I did replace the clear cover over the shower skylight that was damaged by a tree limb. The sage in the head liner was caused by AC guy when he replaced the roof air, he used compressed air to blow away some debris away from the hole before installing the new AC unit.

I was wondering how someone gets into passenger seat.
    Nice looking.
