This is a fairly rare car. The ’93 F-bodies didn’t hit showrooms until Spring, 1993, and shortly after they were introduced, the 6-speed manual was put on hold through the rest of the model year. I bought a ’93 Z-28 with the 6-speed in April, and in October, I sold it with 12,000 miles on it for a couple thousand more than I paid for it. I never found out why the 6-speed was put on hold, though.
Opti-spark Distributor is the weak spot on these (bought a 94 Z28 like this new in December 1993, but 249K miles on it until had to see it in 2019) water pumps went every 70-80K, usually good idea to do the Optispark then, trouble now is finding a good one, wondering if the plugs were really changed, they’re a Bee-otch (didn’t do them myself) Drove mine like an old lady for the most part, got 195K out of the Clutch and 198K before 5th 6th gears went Bye Bye, loved that car
Yes plugs and wires replaced 2 years ago. I have receipts for all work completed and all work and parts guaranteed.
Some well documented trouble spots, I’ve driven one, and they are guaranteed to put a smile on. 😃 Great sound, and the 6sp manual makes em even more fun.
Nice one, especially with the 6 speed manual. I recall when these came out with the slimmed down body – a welcome relief from the overdone cladding on a lot of 80s Pontiacs, and the weird experiments they did with the front end for a few years. Usually, I like the OEM wheels, but this is one where I do not blame the seller for changing out the OEM wheels. Those directional designs are definitely not holding up to the test of time like earlier Rally, SS, and snowflake designs did. Not sure the wheels on the car look the best though. I’d probably opt for the Vette rims as they are similar to some later T/A wheels. I am wanting a manual, but not quite the right time. Too bad, this one is close to me.
I have a 99 5 speed 6cy firebirde…been in storage for 20 years. These cars have not really found a niche in the market place, regarding value or price….really overlooked within the market place.
Not sure why but you are correct..I had a 94 Trans Am and when I sold it I had to give it away!
Those wheels are a definite improvement on this car. And that “Octo-Spark” (as I like to call it), will work fine ..until it doesn’t, somewhere out on the road, then you’ll be walking. Also, I’m glad the stock stereo was left alone, as they worked well and I made a living out of repairing them (and other GM units).
