Few classics offer a better entry point into vintage car ownership than a first-generation Mustang, and this 1967 coupe has all the right qualities to make it your next fun project. With its original 200ci inline-six and C4 automatic transmission still in place, this survivor was parked in 1996 and owned by the same individual for roughly 40 years before being revived by its current caretaker. It’s now offered right here on Barn Finds and is located in Pocatello, Idaho.

According to the seller, the Mustang was pulled from long-term storage and treated to an extensive mechanical refresh, making it roadworthy once again. The engine starts and runs well with no smoke or blowby, and the transmission shifts properly. Numerous new parts have been installed, including a fresh battery and cables, ignition components, rebuilt Carter carburetor, fuel pump, hoses, tank, sending unit, and LED headlights that maintain an OEM look. The brakes have also been completely overhauled front to back with new shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, hoses, and master cylinder.

Cosmetically, this coupe wears an older repaint over its original Jade Green finish. The clear coat is peeling in spots, and there are a few paint chips, but it still presents well for a vintage driver. The body is in notably solid condition with fenders, quarter panels, trunk floor, and shock towers all clean. There are some flaws, such as rust in the front passenger floor pan (a result of a windshield leak) and a small patch on the lower driver-side door skin. Still, the overall structure, including the torque boxes and frame rails, appears sound.

Inside, the original interior shows its age, but many key pieces have already been replaced. New door panels, window cranks, dash pad, and dash trim are installed. All the glass is intact, including the original windshield, and the trunk drop-downs are rust-free. A few minor bugs remain, such as a brake light switch that sticks and a dragging front brake, but these are manageable fixes for a car that’s otherwise running and driving again.

Whether you’re looking to restore it, lightly refresh and enjoy, or preserve its current patina, this ‘67 Mustang is an honest, appealing foundation for your next project.

Would you repaint it back to Jade Green or enjoy the well-earned character as-is? Leave any questions you have in the comments, and if you’d like to make this Mustang yours, make the seller an offer!

That’s a nice shade of blue, but I would have preferred the original Jade Green. Had that shade of green on my 69 Mustang. Still my favorite Mustang color.

Mister experience talking. That leak on the passenger floor is probably NOT a windshield leak. We had the windshield out of my 65 three different times…new everything every time. Turns out to be a leak thru the grill at the base of the windshield that collects at a low spot in the cowl. Pretty time consuming and expensive to fix, gotta replace the firewall/cowl to stop it…or do what I did and just don’t drive it in the rain! There’s also a clear plexiglass removable cover that goes over the cowl vent to keep rain from getting in.

The 5th letter in vin, indicates a 289 V-8 engine. When was the 6 cylinder or T code put in ???

I agree. The seller needs to explain this difference. Is it the wrong VIN? Is the statement that it still has the original 6 cylinder engine wrong? The seller should include photos of the door data plate, the buck tag and the inner fender apron VIN stampings. Getting a Marti report would also be a good idea.

This car is not Werth this kind of money . It needs floor pans to start , seat covers . A new paint job , and with 110000 on it you might as well put a new drive train in it . You will spend $20000 on this, if you do most of the work.
The one thing nice, is if you do spend the money it will be a nice car for alot of years to come. Good luck to how ever buys it.
