Take a look at this garage find E-Type! Barn Finds reader Jeff has decided to offer his 1971 Jaguar E-Type through us after being pleased with us listing a collection he is helping to sell. The car is located in Lebanon, Tennessee and Jeff is asking $42,500. Be sure and contact Jeff through the form at the bottom of the post if you’re interested!
Asking Price: $42,500
Location: Lebanon, TN
Mileage: 44,231
Title Status: Clean
VIN: 2R14179
Seller’s Description: This is a two owner 1971 44231 mile Series II XKE Roadster. The second owner obtained the car in 1977. The car was driven until 1983 to the current mileage. The owner chose to park the car, purchase an interior kit as well as a new top and dash pad. The dash pad was installed but the interior kit and top were left in their prospective boxes where they remain and will be provided to the next owner. The car has never suffered from an accident and suffers from little minor rust. The body gaps are factory perfect. The engine is free and turns easily. This example is a very easy car to get on its feet as a driver or a good solid candidate with high integrity for a complete restoration.
Body Condition: The body is very straight with perfect factory body panel gaps. There is very minor rust. Paint is old with the patina you would expect to find on a garage find.
Mechanical Condition: The car is numbers matching. Nothing has been done to the mechanicals since it was stored 35 years ago. Engine turns, clutch and brakes seem to work.

I’ve always wanted an E-Type. This is an attractive car. I doubt it would take much to get it running, and not too much more to get it driving. The windscreen is missing. If I had the cash….
It all starts by setting one box on the luggage rack. And a nice progression of photos! Happy to see that for a change. I bet the windscreen was taken out to put the dash pad in and is still around. Best of luck with your sale Jeff. I wish I had the coin.
Well at least it was inside all these years.
Thumb UP for all three comments above, they say what I would. Great find, GLWS!
Best of luck Jeff, they are wonderful cars, this one has a ton of potential just from looking at it, I am too far away and have no room otherwise I’d jump on it.
GLWTS.
Nice progression of photos!
From a storage rack to a great looking, original, low mile, vintage Jag in 4 pics!
Terrific story. I hope a true Jag lover gets this car.
Why does God give unorganized people houses & garages if they don’t use the space and merely packrat for years on end?
I’ve been praying to God for a shop/garage my entire life and I am organized without a garage.
Not fair, God!
p.s. RULES: does not include Religion I suspect.
;)
Bob
Try praying to be disorganized then.
Thanks to the seller for doing a cleanup and taking some nice photos. That alone increases the value and the interest.
Who doesn’t want an E-type?
Cleaned up nice
pity its not a V12
Highly unlikely that the brakes work and advise to not try them out until they are disassembled and rebuilt. Hard to roll when they are locked up…
My E-type sat for 20 years and everything with brake fluid needed to be rebuilt. This includes the clutch master and slave.
Excellent project!
What does a picture of a lead sled Mercury have to do with a discussion of this E-type?
The first photo of the Jag looks like it’s from that “Hoarders” show. But I don’t think they often come across E-types buried in the rubble.
My brother parked in his garage his 1969 XKE 2+2 convertible in 1981. I drove it once, what a ride! Now it collects dust and dreams. Maybe one day….
what’s the reason for even listing a car like this when you get no answer from the seller – I contacted him via the form about one week ago – no response at all. Hell of a way to sell a car – and great photos. Geezus
