BF Exclusive: 1972 Triumph TR6

1972-triumph-tr6

From Tim M – The restoration of this car was started some years ago, but it was stored before being finished. It has an excellent repainted and solid frame. The body was repainted Dark British Racing Green and will need a few dents and scrapes fixed, but it still holds a shine.  The body has some insignificant rust and a couple of spare panels to fix it. The original 2500 six-cylinder engine turns over and looks to have been repainted and worked on. Perhaps it was rebuilt? Who knows? However, it is mainly complete, with nothing major missing.

The biggest time investment will be the interior which has suffered from sunshine and neglect and will need to be completely re-trimmed. It comes with some original panels, seats, a roll-bar, the hood-frame, and what is left of the soft-top. Bumpers are also included, but I don’t think they’re original. This could be perfect for someone wanting a relatively easy and cheap project that will not require a body-off restoration.  I had intended to ship it back to the UK, but Brexit put an end to that!

Tim is asking $5,000 for this TR6 and you can contact him via email here if interested. The car is located in Chula Vista, California and the buyer will be responsible for shipping. Thanks for listing this with us Tim. We hope it goes to a good home where it will get finished. If any of you have an unfinished project that you would like to sell, please consider listing it with us!

Just looked at a 1970 TR 6 for 4K almost bought it but it was purple, late 60’s “mod” color and lots of rust.

I am comforted by the statement “The restoration of this car was started some years ago, but it was stored before being finished.” I don’t know why, maybe it has something to do with the car in my garage that has a 1995 inspection sticker on the windshield.
“stored before finished” just sounds a whole lot better than “abandoned” or “not completed” or “ran out of money” ……..I like it!

I know, Jamie, I saw it too. This looks like a pretty nice one, from what we see, although, the slotted mags don’t work well for me. Again, no mention of O/D. A deal breaker. Wish there were more pics ( but I’m in no position to buy one now anyway) This seems like a good price, for Cal. When I was there not long ago, I looked at much worse, for the same money.
Thanks Jesse for the feature, one of these days, Jamie, and it will more than likely be a “Barn Find”.

Howard, I happen to have an extra set of Australian Minilite copies that you can have for what I paid for them, and the nice, hardly used tires come with them :-) Just as an FYI, it’s not hard to convert one to overdrive or the 5-speed Toyota, but it can be expensive. The additional cost of buying one with overdrive seems to be less than the cost of acquiring the overdrive tranny afterwards, even considering the recoup from selling the non-od tranny.

Don’t worry, Howard, we’ll keep finding them–one will be right for you at some point :-)

Can anyone identify the wheels on this car ? I have three just like them and I need to find a forth one to complete the set, or conversely I would sell mine to complete someone else’s set

OD is way overated. Build a rear with PI gears. NO extra weight and good highway performance. A little engine tweaking and you will have a great ride, good acceleration nice trans ratio’s and no need to spend the bucks on extra weight. PS, you won’t have to fake your door plate to reflect something the car never had…
Dare you to keep up with me in the twisties.
Deal breaker..please. Just invest in a pre 72.
