This 1975 Triumph TR6 was recently pulled out of long-term storage, and the seller was able to get the engine running with minimal work. It will need restoration, but the seller believes it’s original and will be a great starting place. The TR6 is a fantastic sports car with excellent handling and an outstanding inline-6 engine. If you’d love to have this Triumph, be sure to make the seller an offer!

The TR6 sat in a unique position within the British Sports car market. Its inline-6 engine gave it a considerable boost in performance over the MGB, but it wasn’t nearly as powerful or high-tech as the six cylinders found in more expensive cars like the Aston Martin DB6 or Jaguar E-Type; it was also significantly cheaper than those cars. That being said, it was still a rather sophisticated car for the money. It even featured an independent rear suspension!

As stated, the car will need a complete restoration. The interior isn’t the worst we’ve ever seen, but it will need a new dash cap, wood, and seat foam. The upholstery and other trim pieces look like they might be usable.

The 2.5-liter engine is bullet-proof, so it’s no surprise the seller was able to get it running with minimal work. Since it’s been sitting, they did use an external fuel source. Given their popularity, parts are readily available and affordable. When new, it would have been good for 150 horsepower and 143 lb-ft of torque.

If you are going to restore a British Sports Car, a TR6 is a great option. Just about every part is being reproduced. They are easy to work on, and you’ll have an enjoyable driver in the end. This is a desirable color and would look fantastic polished up or resprayed. So, if you’d love to take on this project, make the seller an offer!

Looks solid on top but they need to run that hoist up and give folks a look underneath. Suspension is the key to how the 6s drive and a tube shock kit for the back and a close look at the mounts for cracks is a must. Nice feature is the ability to pull the transmission out from inside the car for clutch changes etc. One of the nicer looking sports cars of the era.

150 hp was unfortunately only for the early fuel injected cars. This is obviously a carburated US spec car, if my memory is correct I think they only had 104 hp.

For sure they can be modified for more power but that’s a lot of money and effort to get back up to the power level of the original UK market cars.
