This Triumph Spitfire 1500 has undergone a significant amount of work, but it now needs a new home and to be completed. The seller needs the garage space, so they have come to accept that they won’t be able to finish it. It comes with many of the necessary parts to complete it. These are simple cars and are great fun to drive, so if you’d love to put it back on the road, make the seller an offer! It’s located in Nottingham, New Hampshire and is being offered here as a Barn Finds Exclusive.

The seller has already done the heavy lifting here. They rebuilt the engine, replaced the floor pans, rocker panels, engine wiring, tires, carpeting, and clutch hydraulics. It still needs the interior wiring replaced, the interior put back together, and the paint polished up.

As you can see, the major interior components are present. The seller notes that some of the interior components will need restoration, but overall, the interior appears to be in decent condition. The dash cap is free of cracks, and even the wood dash panel presents well. Besides the wiring, some of the softbits need to be replaced, but parts are readily available and fairly affordable. The seller states that the car comes with a substantial amount of spare parts, including the interior parts that were removed, and two hardtops.

The 1500 inline-four has been fully rebuilt and is running. It’s paired with a 4-speed manual transmission featuring overdrive, a sought-after option. The engine and engine bay are presented nicely in the provided photos. The seller states that they used Lucas parts wherever possible. They do note that it still needs a brake master cylinder before it’s safe to drive.

Spitfires are a blast to drive and are easy to work on. This one has already undergone a significant amount of work, which is a huge plus. The added hardtop and overdrive are the cherry on top. The remaining work should be fairly simple. Once done, you’ll have a fun driver that you can enjoy.

Nice one at a nice price.
Very nice!
Does anyone recognize the wheels on this Spitfire? The manufacturer?
I don’t recognize them style wise. BUT they kind of remind me of Cosmic brand. How about our cousins here from the UK answer this one. They have to be British as no other place has wheels with this bolt pattern. (4 on 3.75″)(Spitfire, Lotus, etc.)
You know, that’s a great question. Let me head into the garage and check!
Okay they’re stamped F.P.S. but to be totally transparent I have no way of knowing if they’re genuine or reproduction
Car looks good IF the sheet metal work was done properly. Man, are those spark plug wires loooong! I hope the spark doesn’t get lost on the way to the plugs!(lol) The rest of the car looks proper. If I was in the market this would be a consideration.
Hi Wayne! Oh yes, the sheet metal work was done meticulously. My mechanic friend and I weren’t comfortable doing that part ourselves and sought out a professional who really knew his stuff! And LOL about the plug wires!
I had a 1971 for a short while. I would rather have one than the MGB that I have now.BUT I have too much time invested in MG now with the engine/transmission conversion.
My dad had a dark red Sptitfire when I was probably 6 or 7 (I just turned 53). I fondly remember riding behind him between the driver’s seat and the folded top while my younger brother rode behind my mom who was in the passenger’s seat. It’s a great story to tell whenever we see one of these at a car show. My dad just lights up!
