With an Escape-based Bronco Sport and a retro-themed Bronco out on dealer lots, how long will it be until Ford releases a “big” Bronco based on the F-150? After all, it was a fairly successful model from 1978 to 1996, so there could be some money to be made, especially considering that such a truck would certainly sell in the $80,000 range or thereabouts. If you want to save 90 percent of the money and you don’t mind some sunburned Texas paint, this 1993 Bronco XLT might be the right choice for your next hobby vehicle. It’s based in Fort Worth and is being offered as a Barn Finds Exclusive for $8,800 or best offer.
The top-of-the-line V8 in 1993 Broncos was the 351 Windsor, which produced 200 horsepower. At some point, this Bronco got a new engine, so it has 236,000 miles on the odometer and about 170,000 miles on the 351. The transmission is an E4OD four-speed automatic, and according to the brochure, 351-powered Broncos with 3.55:1 gears could tow up to 7,100 pounds, so it wasn’t a lightweight. An added bonus: the air conditioning and heater work perfectly.
The seller tells us that he picked up the Ford a couple years ago from someone who “rescued it” from a barn in 2021 where it had sat for ten years. He has been driving it daily and had hopes of eventually restoring it as a father/sons project, but his need for a larger commuter for his growing family has precluded that plan.
As a Texas truck, you might not be surprised by the lack of significant rust underneath, but you may be pleased by the amount of maintenance the truck has received from its current and former owners (this undercarriage picture was taken before a new exhaust system was installed). Here’s a list:

The Bronco even comes with a Marti Report showing that it’s one of only 804 with this attractive Emerald Green Metallic and Medium Mocha Cloth interior combination. The seller has included dozens of pictures, and although this truck will need some cosmetic attention someday, it is a fun and useful driver now. Broncos from the ’90s can only appreciate at this point, so this might not be a bad way to pick one up before the craziness hits.

Lots of work done, must of been a mess before all that. Still very nice, maybe no need for the lift.
Some nice factory HD options. 3.55 gear, pretty swift Bronco I bet 🐎 Agree w you Mark. I’d leave it stock w 31′ rubber.
What’s up with the alligator skin upholstery? Must have been added later
most definitely added later, two owners ago :) someone got creative!
They HAVE a big Bronco. Bigger than the Sport. Properly engineered to be an SUV with access to the rear seat.
I had 2 of these 150 Broncos. They were ok once you sorted them all out. The back seat was a bouncy affair. Right over the springs. Short wheelbase made them porpoise. I agree the lift isn’t helping this thing handle.
That said, this appears to be a nicely sorted example.
It’s okay. It does have a Chevy rear seat. Someone did say that the Ford rear seat was terrible so maybe that’s why they changed it out for the other one. I personally own a 1994 Chevy Blazer. I’m the original owner from GM, it’s 31 years young with 169,000. I have thought of selling it for my wife thinks it’s a real piece of work. I have maintained it since owning it and a person could drive it all the way a cross the country if they didn’t mind paying for the fuel. Thanks for listening.
Thank y’all for the kind words, and BIG thank you BarnFinds for finding a great home for “Ole Greenie”! she will be missed for sure.
The GM rear seat came from a 3rd row Tahoe / Suburban GMT800 platform, installed by previous owner… ideal for kids and car seats because it keeps the shoulder strap for the seat belt when the top is removed.
regarding the lift, its as big as I would ever want to go and had even debated bring it back to stock height with 31″s + Factory Alcoas if I were to restore her.. the stance was great tho and she rode well with new suspension components!
