We’ve really come to appreciate the BMW Z3 in recent years. They offer impressive performance, are easy to work on, comfortable, and are a blast to drive. Calling it a gentleman’s Miata is quite accurate. While they have proven to be durable, especially for a sports car, but even still you want to find one that’s been well cared for since new. This example has covered 115k miles, but has been meticulously cared for from day one. It presents nicely throughout and is ready to enjoy. If you’d love to hit the road in this Z3 this summer, make the seller an offer! It’s located in Portland, Connecticut, with an asking price of $11,500.

The Z3 is a bit of an anomaly for BMW. It merged parts borrowed from several models and was built exclusively in Greer, South Carolina, for the American market. As great as the original Miata is, they can be a bit tight for taller drivers and feel underpowered by modern standards. The Z3 on the other hand, is spacious, easy to get in and out of, and the 2.5-liter inline-6 offers a healthy amount of torque.

According to the seller, the car presents more like a 40,000-mile car than one with 115,000 miles. Aside from some light wear on the driver’s seat bolster, the interior does appear to be in really nice condition. These are well-built, but the early 2000s tan interiors don’t always age well. This one doesn’t show significant signs of sun or water damage. The carpets and mats even look to be in good shape. The only issue we see is some failing weather stripping around the convertible top window, which is a common issue. You might be able to repair the back window, but as long as you keep it indoors when not driving, it’s probably not an issue worth worrying about.

When the Z3 first debuted, it was powered by an inline-4 cylinder, but BMW eventually offered the inline-6 as well. This one came equipped with a 2.5-liter engine, which produced 184 horsepower and 175 foot-pounds of torque. It’s paired to a GM-sourced 5-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that everything works as it should, including the air conditioning!

About a decade ago, the car received a fresh coat of paint, as the second owner felt its original paint wasn’t as shiny as it could be. The respray has held up well and looks good. This well-optioned Z3 looks like fun and could make for a great top-down driver. If you’d love to have it, make the seller an offer today!

A face that only a mother could love. This is probably the
    worst color for a Z3.
I have a co-worker who has one in this White color –
it makes our Red Miata look stunning!

Agree on the “Alpine White”. White also happens to be the worst color for a Miata.

Z3s of this vintage look best in BMW’s version of BRG – “Oxford Green” with a fresh, clean tan top! Not to knock your red, but IMHO similar vintage Miatas also look best in whatever Mazda’s version of BRG is with a tan top.

At least it’s not one more sliver/red/black. *wrote the owner of a white one*
