If you’ve been waiting for a New Edge Mustang GT that still feels factory fresh, this Barn Finds Exclusive might be the one that finally checks every box. Offered as a classified listing and showing just 6,793 actual miles, this 2001 Ford Mustang GT has lived a remarkably gentle life in the hands of just two owners, both of whom treated it like a long-term collectible rather than a daily driver. It’s located in Wallingford, Connecticut, carries a clean title, and comes finished in factory Zinc Yellow over a leather sport interior.

The story of this Mustang’s preservation is a big part of what makes it special. The original owner purchased it new at Bob Thomas Ford in Hamden, CT, and during his 20 years of ownership, he accumulated only about 5,000 miles. According to the seller, the car was kept in a climate-controlled garage, never saw rain, and had yearly oil changes through 2009. After that, mileage dropped even further—less than 1,000 miles were added between 2009 and 2019. When the owner traded it in (after becoming smitten with the new Supra), Toyota of Wallingford performed a full checkover, changed the oil, and installed new Dunlop tires.

The second and current owner purchased the Mustang in 2019 and continued the tradition of gentle use. Though his garage wasn’t climate-controlled, the car lived inside, came out only on nice days, and gained roughly 1,500 miles over the last six years. Oil changes were handled by the owner, and two tasteful upgrades were added: a cold air intake and a Magna-Flow stainless exhaust with a crossover tube. The result is a GT that’s still stock in spirit but benefits from a little added rumble.

Under the hood sits the 4.6L SOHC V8, factory-rated at 260 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque, paired to a Tremec 5-speed manual and a 3.27:1 limited-slip 8.8 rear end. Inside, the Mach 460 audio system, leather sport seating, power conveniences, and fold-down rear seats remain in immaculate condition with only minimal wear visible on the driver’s bolster. The exterior presents the same way—clean, glossy, and free of noticeable flaws. Even the undercarriage still shows its original markings, with only the expected light surface rust on a couple of bare-metal components.

As the seller notes, these cars aren’t rare—but finding one this well-preserved certainly is. With mileage this low, documented care, and condition that borders on showroom, the asking price is $25,000.

If you have questions, want additional photos or video, or would like to schedule an in-person viewing or make an offer, the seller welcomes contact. For someone who wants a nearly new 2001 Mustang GT without shopping museum collections, this might be the best opportunity you’ll find.

One again, why buy something like this if you don’t intend to drive it? It just boggles the mind. I suppose it’s good for the next owner getting a practically new 24 year old car.

    Hi everyone,
I’m representing this Mustang for the owner. It is very much like new.

Not sure what posseses people to buy a fun car and not use it.
The current owner did drive the car regularly, pretty much every good weekend here in CT. However, it didn’t amount to many miles, sometimes a quick cruise around town, down a couple country roads and back, might only account for 15-20 miles… sometimes less. Considering here in CT we’re lucky if we get 25 good weekends a year … The current owner drove it often, just not covering a lot of miles.
Any questions please contact me above or leave a comment here, I’ll be monitoring it 👍🏼
    Thanks!

What’s 25K get you in the new car market? Not much. So, I guess you can look at it as buying a new older car that can be enjoyed sparingly. Maybe not a daily driver, but certainly not expensive or rare enough to never drive. Putting a few thousand miles on it every year isn’t going to kill your value and what it does lose in value, is more than made up in not driving what 25K gets you in a new car.

I wonder if Hagerty or others like it insure cars like this where you set a declared value, don’t drive it much, and store it in a locked garage. If so, it would save you in insurance dollars too, and still have great coverage.

I have a 2002 GT with a Saleen Body kit and Procharger and other goodies, I have it insured through Haggerty for 20,000 stated value for the last 10 years, along with some vintage Japanese motorcycles $650,00 a year, I have no limit of miles, but don’t put a lot on it, has to be in a locked garage, when I worked they didn’t want me to drive it daily, I have never filed a claim yet
